Hi, I am developing product based shopping website, which have different main categories and than sub categories and then products in those sub catageories, so i want to know how should i make their url, so that they remain seo friendly and remain short as well, is there any benefit if your urls is short after your domainmane like xyz.com/abc.html. My developer has given me three option for url to be shown on website and in search engine which are mentioned below, abc.com/maincatageory/subcatageory/product abc.com/subcatageory/product abc.com/product Please suggest which one to use ? which will be best option. Thank you Danny
the best we can say is follow what other product / e-commerce sites are following: ebay.in, filpkart.com, amazon.com.., they are shopping site gurus..,you can follow the same as those sites..,
You should try to make first one url like maincatageory/subcatageory/product, but that will also best if you use this maincatageory-subcatageory-product instead of this maincatageory/subcatageory/product.
look closely to major shopping sites like endless.com and bluefly.com Their link structure looks like: domain.com/main-subcat/product.html Don't forget size does matter for Search Engines, closer your url to the domain better your results gets.
abc.com/maincatageory/subcatageory/product, because this will help people to know which category and subcategory they are visiting and for those who want to go back one step back navigation will become easy
most seo friendly url structure would be abc.com/product. however, if you have an ecommerce site and have lots of products, then whichever way you can better manage the products and links. shorter the url the better
if you want fast search engine result than use xyz.com/product... and another use this one url xyz.com/mainpro/subcat/product but its take time for result, this one is more benefit for user and seo friendly
In my opinion third option is better then other option.Because of your domain name is to short then user will be easily track your site.User can not remember long domain name.So i prefer you last one is better.
I guess, you are right, now a days we have keep our url shorten for search engines, plus we can't neglect the sub and main categories.
As Owais52 says, structures like “abc.com/maincatageory/subcatageory/product†will help people to know which category and subcategory they are visiting (more usability, best user experience). This structure also helps you for SEO, if you add keywords in each category or subcategory your site will rise faster in search engines.
I have used the structure mentioned above in a way that it containing my main, sub both the category keywords plus at the end the product name and i have tried to keep the url shorter in length as well. I hope this will help my site in terms of making it user friendly urls and search engine friendly.
Third one is best option. Here every page will be available on one click and link juice will be equally distributed.
same here. I choose the last one. shortened and on target. you don't have to use those 2 root folders. it will just make your site or page load slower.
Hello, I think this abc.com/maincatageory/subcatageory/product is best. It is more helpful to visitors.
first one is the more appropriate one as it will follow the bread crumb navigation structure and also need to make sure that the url length should not exceed the given specifications and it not too many keywords you stuff in the URL
