I know someone will blast me for the merits of scrapebox but hopefully instead someone will help me understand and answer my question. I have been researching scrapebox. I have windows 7 professional installed on my computer. What confuses me when researching, I see a lot of reference to scrapebox and vps/dedicated servers. My questions are: 1. Do you need a vps/dedicated server to run scrapebox 2. If you do need a server, what type of OS needs to be on the server? 3. If you don't need a server to run scrapebox, than why so many reference to servers related to scrapebox? Anyways, hoping someone can clarify and give me constructive feedback. Thanks
1. No 2. Windows 2003/2008 Server 3. Servers have faster net connections than your typical home PC in most cases (100/1000). You don't have to interrupt other things you want to do on your PC while you use Scrapebox. Some have older PC's and it can take a much longer time to harvest the same information than with a fairly cheap server. You might not have Windows on your home PC and don't want to have to buy it.
you dont need a server to run scrapebox. lot of people who are serious internet marketers, they run lot of high end SEO tools that require very high speed internet connection and powerful computers. some people just rent dedicated/semi-dedicated or low budget VPS so that they can run those tools 24/7 without compromising the speed of the home pc. as for scrapebox, you can run it for few hours or 24/7 so its entirely upto you how you will use it. whether to have a server or not, you will need private proxy for harvesting as your local IP will get blocked by google after few minutes of scraping.
What he said ^^^. Proxies are critically important and make certain those are fast proxies. All the talk of extra servers etc are for power users, you can post 10K comments quickly form a simple home use DSL connection and the right proxies.
Thanks a million to all posters. The above talked my language and made it understandable. I appreciate that. Thanks
I just want to remind all those people interested in using Scrapebox, that it is a unethical Blackhat SEO tool and if by any way Google detects you are using Scrapebox or any other unethical tool, it will deindex your website at once. So use it on your own risk.
1. No. But it is HIGHLY recommended. I've used nearly 300GB of bandwidth over the past 30 days. That would make me reach my ISP caps pretty quickly. 2. Windows 2003 / Windows 2008 3. Because SB will eat a ton of bandwidth if you've got it running frequently. Not entirely true. There are plenty of people who use Scrapebox but don't touch the fast poster. It's got a ton of other uses.
You should know that scrapebox is a blackhat tool and thus refrain yourself from using that. I knew many webmasters complaining about getting their website banned after they have used this tool.
