Your client should do these things 1) Create a blog relating to dogs and keep fresh content on it 2) Post on as many dog related forums as possible 3) Post product reviews on other sites for other dog related products sold by others 4) Include more products on his site relating to dogs 5) Include a page with links to other dog related sites 6) Contact other sites and get back links 7) Add lots of dog related content to the site 8) Get listed in as many directories as possible When doing the above your client should make sure, when allowed, to post links back to his site, for example, a link in a signature.
Go for PPC. That's the best way to get alot traffic fast. Then they should focus on the SEO on site and start building back links so that they will rank higher in Google.
