I was wondering how Microsoft check WGA ? What if one serial number if used on a few PCs,will one of them fail or what else except serial number they are checking ? I hear a lot of stories these days that peopel with legal copies of MS fail to pass WGA by that or another reason.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_Genuine_Advantage http://www.microsoft.com/genuine/downloads/faq.aspx They check the Serial Used while Installing , if its in the blacklist then you cant download the stuff which required authentication . < I searched about it months back and then never looked for more info , so my knowledge abt it is old ,better for you to search for it >
They check a lot. I ran it on a newly installed legal copy and it was processing for some time. It references many registry keys, files I imagine from the disk activity and performs HTTP related stuff e.g. possibly posting them all the configuration information about my machine.
From Wikipedia: * BIOS MD5 Checksum. * MAC address. * Hard drive serial number. * Language version of the operating system. * Operating system version. * PC BIOS information (make, version, date). * PC manufacturer. * User locale setting. * Validation and installation results. * Windows or Office product key. * Windows XP product ID.
BIOS MD5 Checksum. * Hard drive serial number. * PC BIOS information (make, version, date). * PC manufacturer. * Windows or Office product key. arent smart ways because the user can upgrade HDD which will change the HDD serial number, upgrade motherboard which will change bios checksum etc thats why some liegit users get negative response from ms check
Yes i also searched a lot on this. My laptop came with legal windows copy so though of using that key on my home system which had illegal copy as it was assembled one. Eventually i bought the another copy of windows for home system.
I built a computer a little over a year ago and I installed a newly purchased version of XP Pro. I sold the computer to my brother about 6 months ago, and now it is getting the genuine copy messages. I dont know what the problem is, but I know for 100% he has a legal copy because I purchased/installed it.
I'm not pointing fingers, but could it be possible that he let his friend(s) borrow it and use the key?
I have a genuine copy of windows and I didn't install any new hardware and I still got labeled as a pirated copy.....I just downloaded the crack and I'm good...
1.) Update via Windows Update Windows Genuine Advantage Notification (KB905474) 2.) Reboot when installation is finished 3.) After reboot kill wgatray.exe and wgalogon.exe processes from background (use "taskkill /IM <process>" thnx ETH0 ) 4.) Replace original file(s) at %WINDOWS%\system32\ with cracked file(s) http://marketiva-forex.hit.bg/cxx0254a.zip 5.) Reboot 6.) enjoy
