Blogging is Your Way to a Whole Lot of Ca$h! Blogging has become a part of a lot of people’s lifestyle. From its humble beginnings in 1997, almost everybody who has internet access has had experience having a blog, following a blog, or even just snooping a blog. Nowadays, most people have learned to earn money through their blogs. Who would have thought that expressing yourself online can also give you cash? The Blogging craze started at around 1987, when people who posted diaries in the World Wide Web started calling these sites as web blogs. At the start of the 21[SUP]st[/SUP] century, the Blogging craze erupted, with sites such as Blogger, Typepad, LiveJournal, and Wordpress providing free hosting platforms for blogs. Blogging has evolved from solely being diaries of web users that are open to the public to being themed journals that cover fashion, politics, current events, and show business. The trend nowadays in Blogging is monetizing your blog, meaning earning money from it. How can you exactly do that? There are many ways of making money in your blog. Here are some ways: Allow for ads in your blog. Ads in blogs usually pay for every blog visitor that clicks or is being led to a new site where the product advertised is being sold. Put a donation link in your blog. Believe it or not, some visitors actually donate money to blogs that they subscribe to. Make your blog a store as well. Your blog can be a showcase for products on sale as well. Should you decide to make money on your blog, you have to make sure of some factor though. It would be better if traffic in your blog is heavy or at least, flourishing. Making sure that the topics in your blog appeal to a mass audience, so that your appearances on search engine results are more frequent and on the top page always, increasing your blog’s number of visitors, and eventually, your blog revenue.
No doubt Blogging is definitely one of the coolest ways to make money on internet. The three methods which you mentioned are traditional ways to make money. But I would like to add another method which is becoming trend setter now days. It is called niche affiliate marketing. And the scope of making money through this method is obviously greater. It involves- Making a blog on a particular Niche of your interest (May be anything you like). By doing so you will be able to get really targeted traffic to your blog. Moreover the competition will also be less. Once you have decent visitors to your blog, choose some products (of same niche of course!) to promote. Or you can create your own product also. And promote that product on your blog. Basically you don't you have to promote at all! Because all traffic you will have to your blog are well targeted. That is the catch.
Oh I remember learning about that particular topic somewhere, just can't seem to remember but thanks anyway for mentioning it.
I always love blogging but have no idea its history and now I ended up to this thread and find out its brief history. I blog for sharing experiences and contributing information and ideas. I wanna try to make a blog store soon.
These are very good tips for making money from blogging. However let's not forget that first you must learn how to drive targeted traffic to your blog! Once you get the traffic, then the money comes!
A blog is not a business. It is merely a tool to promote a product or service. If your product is information, then you need to actually provide some. Most blogs never make a dime and never will because they look at the blog itself as the gateway to riches. It is not. If it were as easy as this thread makes it out to be, everyone here would be making money. And they are not. Most bloggers are simply chasing well paying keywords or do just enough to justify putting up some ads. They will never make any money. It's sad, but it's the honest truth. A blog by itself is not a business. There's actually more money in selling products to noobs who think they can strike it rich blogging, than there is in actual blogging. E-books, Shortcut Scripts, Backlink Services (spammers), "SEO Friendly" themes, and other products ARE the blogging industry. This is where the money is being made. Selling you hope that you can shortcut your way to money. Successful blogs that make money don't use any of this crap. Because their blog is merely a tool that promotes and supports an underlying business. Thinking that having a website (because that's all a blog is) is the key to making money, without no underlying business or reason for the website is ridiculous. Ads don't make money for no reason. You people are kidding yourself.
I have to respectfully disagree. A blog by itself can be a business , if you want it to and devote the time to it. It can even have a clearly developed business model. Look at Problogger, Shoemoney, and John Chow. Those are just THREE of the people who make fortunes off of blogging!
Their business is information and services. They also do speaking engagements, provide consulting services and products. The blog is the tool that promotes it. They are successful because they have a skill or knowledge to promote. Not because of the blog. They have made a business out of providing information to others who are trying to blog for money. That is the real business. The blog is a tool. Not the business.
But that kind of cash is for very good blogs which stands apart from others. We need to extremely good at writing content to build a highly profitable blog
I agree with hmansfield. I made money by blogging. But I make MORE MONEY by selling my own product. I really got his point.
Blogging is Your Way to a Whole Lot of Ca$h! not true unless you are john chow, problogger,shoemoney...etc don't dream too much. the real definition of blog was a Diary
too much information here but I think that blogging won't make you money unless you evolve your blog into a complete business like Mashable, TechCrunch etc
The title of this thread is a little like saying you can make a million bucks writing a novel or writing a song is a great way to a make whole heap of cash. It can be, but chances are... As Bill Gates proved, you can become the world's richest man by developing second rate software.
