Can't register a domain even if it is available :(

    Hi,

I have been eying a domain and it recently got available on networksolutions and register.com. I paid for it on network solutions and next day they sent me a mail saying they could not register the domain and will refund my credit card. it then became unavailable on both the sites.

After 5 days, it again became available. I paid for it again on networksolutions.com and it has been over 36 hours and I have not recd any mail from them rejecting my application. However, the domain still shows as "available" on both the sites. I paid for the domain again (3rd time) just in case.

Anyone knows what's been happening here.

    PS:
the whois status for the domain is ***this domain has been suspended***
The site is "Not Available" on godaddy.com

Is it a .com? Country code?

Can you post its current full WHOIS minus the name?

    Name servers:
    ns1.livedns.co.uk

Are you sure the domain has dropped yet? It looks like it still registered judging by the whois.

Have you considered registering the domain name at other domain name registrar instead of just network solution ?

    Thanks for the replies guys.

Fish - The domain got expired in the 1st week of august. Not sure if it has been dropped. But since the status is "suspended' and its available on 2 major registrars, I guess its dropped now.

eddy2099 - Have booked it on register.com too. How long before I know its done?

It should take about 3 months or more to get available. During the redemption period, the original owner can get the domain name back by paying the registration fees + redemption fees.

The domain is still available on both networksolutions.com and register.com. I've been registering on both of them everyday but they refund the credit card later and still show it available. The whois data also shows it got expired in the first week of august.

BTW, the domain is co.uk and is not available on godaddy.

I guess I'll keep paying them everyday until its done.

Yup... I bought a good .co.uk name from GoDaddy just last week... give them a try. Much cheaper than register.com!

    Just read this thread again.

Since it's a country code that's being discussed here, what we normally know
about .com domain names don't necessarily apply to ccTLDs (especially .co.uk
in this case). Only the .uk Registry Nominet can explain what's the score.

I have a bad feeling those 2 registrars' systems aren't exactly as accurate as
others on querying availability for certain ccTLDs. But...I really won't know.

Sorry, I meant MY .co.uk domain is not available on godaddy. It says the domain is already taken; While it's available on register and NetSol.

Even the whois in godaddy shows expiry date of august 06. If someone'd taken it, it should have refreshed by now. I have been trying for last 12 days since it got available.

If it shows it is expired then it is still pending removal. It would only be available if there is no WhoIs details at all for the domain.
