I've already setup a gig on the forum but was hoping to make sure someone could explain the step by step process, as I've never actually offered the service here before and its not so intuitive. What I'd like to know, specifically, is how do I accept payments directly from the gig I offer? I use Paypal. Thank you guys so much for your help. Regards Los
Basically you just post a topic, describe the service you offer, and then get interested parties to Private Message you. You set up the price and the terms. Request payment send to you via your PayPal email. You then accept the payment from the email saying you have received the money. That's the gist of it.
^ That sums it up pretty well. DP BST is more for making contacts and handling things yourself from there. It doesn't have organized systems like Flippa (for selling sites) or ODesk (for contracting workers) or any type of escrow sytem built into the site.
Is it not allowable to include a payment button directly into the post? Thanks so much for the response by the way guys. Pretty sure this will help other new folks to the forum.
I'm interested in knowing this as well. I understand the gist of how things work through exploring on my own and reading what rules/guidelines I can find, but there are a few details I'm not sure of yet. With how frequently infractions seem to be given out here, I'm trying to educate myself as much as possible! So yeah, I'm one of the other new people on the forum who is being helped by this thread. Thanks!
@Ironic - I knew that I wasn't the only one wondering about this, lol. Let's see if we can get some folks chiming in here that know what "can" and "can't" be done. I got an infraction the other day for responding to a wtb service. I didn't ask for anything....just left a comment and got the infraction. Regards Los
As far as adding a payment button directly to a post, I honestly couldn't say whether or not that is allowed. Head over to http://forums.digitalpoint.com/forumdisplay.php?f=24 and scroll past the categories. Read the sticky posts and then look for any sticky posts in the specific categories. That should give you a good overview of things that are absolutely not allowed. As for getting an infraction for replying to a "wtb" post, any chance your post is still up and you can give a link to it so we can take a look?
Hi,Good info here. Does DP charge for buy/selling on their forum? This thread should be sticky so newbies can use this as a good reference.Cheers
In the BST section of the forum, when someone posts, you will see their BST reputation listed on the right by their post count. Outside of the BST section, you can just go to their Profile and take a look at their BST reputation under the Feedback Score tab. You can use that to help judge how reliable/trustworthy a person is. Beyond that, just being smart about how you conduct business can go a long way. No. In the BST section of the DP forums, there isn't a fee charged by DP.
Looks like it has worked! Thanks for starting this thread - I'm sure it has helped quite a few people, myself included.
You just post and explain how or what kind of service you offer and then show them you paypal. Then your potential clients will notify you that they are interested in what you offer. YOu just send them your payment details or you can even put a payment button on your thread which is more convenient
My suggestion is that you make it as easy of a process to order as possible. If I'm going to order a service, I typically won't visit a 3rd party website. I just want to hear about the details here (only pertinent information and reviews). I would also suggest that if you are confident in your service that you throw out a couple of reviews to established members here and let them give an honest review in your thread. This will help others to trust you in the future and will ensure that each thread you make is one that produces new clients. It's not a requirement, but you may find it a little bit difficult to get moving without that.
The way I would do it is post your gig details on the forum where you have the link to your sales page on your own website; I wouldn't buy directly from the forum; I'd like to see that the seller has a presence online, and find out more info about his offer. It adds more credibility if you show that you have a professional website that looks good and is easy to navigate.
Just go through the steps in posting a new topic as you would any other topic in the Buy and Sell forum
