Really? I should get the bible to make and phone in my stock picks for me, program my computer, and pleasure my wife.

Mikael, I'm not sure if you were aware of this but a bible is an inanimate object. It doesn't make decisions, program computers, pick stocks, or pleasure women.

Its a book full of words that have meaning. What that meaning is takes a person who is capable of thinking and, often, interpreting. The bible does not forbid following the science of evolution any more than the Qu'ran mandates the wearing of Burqas. It takes some dumb sh*t who sleeps with his goat to come up with something that lame.

Did you know Jesus personally? Is he your neighbor? How else do you know what was his teaching if not through bible? What you mean is that you make up a religion for yourself that you think is logical but since you haven´t quit Christianity yet then you call it Christianity when in reality it got nothing to do with it. You are like some other people who know by logic that idea of God who knows everything and can everything and one day is going to send us to heaven or hell is stupid but they are too scared to give up the idea and instead they say they believe in a God which is something. some form of energy that they have no idea what it is.

As to the 1st part of your question,"Did you know Jesus personally",I can't expect you to understand...it's something I'm not going to share on a public forum. Those who believe in Jesus know what I'm referring to.
I have read the bible and know it,just don't read it often.Jesus inspired me by what he said and I reached out.I don't really fully understand who and what Jesus is,I only have experienced his power.I'm a new Christian so don't look to me for answers.I have more questions than answers about Christanity.I only know that I want it......need it too.

Translation: I am confused in my life and looking for something which I have no idea what it is. I have made up somethings for myself which comforts me and I call it power of Jesus and Christianity but in reality I could as well call it Harri Krishna if I was in that cult.

I think a Christian is one who follows Christ.

I believe in evolution and see the point being made in Genesis. I believe the big bang created miniscule life, atoms & molecules etc., which over millions of years has gathered, reproduced & evolved into all kinds of creatures, therefore "God" made man from dirt, in a way.

Well actually I know a few women that get pleasure from the bible.

It doesn´t bother me, it surprises me that how many intelligent people who understand the idea of omnipotent God and religion is stupid still hang to the concept and the name by calling it something that they don´t know what it is but they believe in it. :)

I think ppl like me, who believe there's stuff happening around us that we don't yet understand or even how it works use the term God because it's something everyone understands as a powerful source/force. I don't think too many 'logical' people think of this power (called God) as a man in the clouds, though I could be wrong. :)

PS: As a kid I think I believed God was in the clouds watching over us all because that's what we were taught. I got over that at about 16-18 as I came to my own understandings.

Most people haven't had an experience for example, of having had their bodies split opened and then they insert their hand inside the wound and it comes out clutching their spleen. I haven't done it nor do I have any reason to do it. The point is that most people know that they have a body part known as a spleen but haven''t the slightest idea how it looks and feels in the hand. Most of all, they haven't the foggiest reason to believe in the spleen but they go on and continue believing in it whether they have seen it or not and whether it is the parish priest or the witch doctor that told them about it, they go on believing in it.

I can agree that there are many forces that we haven´t discovered or don´t understand it yet but to call it God is wrong since there is a long standing and clear definition of God in religious texts as the omnipotent creature which made the mankind and everything else. Your example is like a guy who goes to a science lab and see a machine that he doesn´t understand what it is and decides to call a chair since that is the word that he knows, do you think this is logical?

Spleen is a physical thing and there is a proof of it´s existence in many forms, God is not.

That would depend if the new implement had four legs and a place to sit on I guess. If you can agree that this force has all the characteristics of God then why wouldn't you call it such? Is that not logical?

So this force that you believe in is the omnipotent creature that made the world in 7 days and watching you from the sky to decide if you are going to heaven or hell? If it is not then it doesn´t have four legs and place to sit on. There is CLEAR AND PRECISE definition of God according to religion and you cannot make it to whatever you like.

You're saying I must believe bible version literally or it's not God. Possibly my God is not the God you were thinking it was & arguing against. I agree with you 100% that belief in THAT God is silly & illogical. A clear & concise version of God written by people with a particular agenda, that's not my definition of God though my God does all that & more.

My version of God & bible "definition of God" are completely different though IMHO. Personally, I don't ascribe to the bible literally, or I do, just as much as I do with any Grimms fairy tale. I take lessons from it just as we learn the meaning behind the Emporers New Clothes. The bible was probably written in good faith and put together by religions to make some kind of impression on somebody, gain a government grant or some such at the time lol.

If I were to have a bible I believed in it would be a book called Three Magic Words by US Andersen. That was written by my God about as much as the bible was though much easier to understand. It calls it God & knowing life as it is, I believe that's much closer to the truth than any bible or religious text I have read.

I am saying that the definition of God is quite clear and belongs to the religious people. You cannot call your own invention God, the same way that you cannot call a table, a chair because you feel like it. Make your own word for it, call it Mr. force, Mr. Magic or whatever you like but don´t call it God, because it only serves to confuse the issue.

But that's not right, we both, logical as we are, should agree there have been many variations & descriptions of God over the centuries. Is that the sun God? the eight-handed elephant God? The, what was it, eight-headed clown God? Which one should be the real one? There's plenty of variations and I believe every one, even the clown God, can work for those that believe in them.

Use the force Luke :) - I haven't made it up myself, as I said it's the God described in Three Magic Words (a book I read in 1980). God is real IMHO, though I believe He's not defined correctly by most.

How many people do you know that worship sun God? How many time did you see in Media that they refer to sun God as the God? Do you think the words, "in God we trust" on American dollar bills refers to the God in star wars mythology? For all practical purposes, the word God in western culture and majority of Asia, Africa,... refers to Abrahamic God who is omnipotent. If you say that you believe in God, it is automatically considered that you are speaking about this God. In my opinion many people still use the word God because they are afraid of stigma which is attached to saying that you don´t believe in God.

I believe in God because I choose to just as you choose not to.Because you do not I do not doubt either your sanity or logic....it's just your choice. There is a mathamatical intelligence and order to the universe,it's not random. How did the universe get there? Did it just happen on it's own? I believe a creator is responsible,I call this creator God because I don't know what else to call it.And this Jesus guy I believe lived so exemplary a life that the creator blessed him with powers which I have experienced.(not discussing that here)
I had Roman Catholcism rammed down my throat as a child and reject religion because of that.My belief is very personal....simply put I wish to know my creator....simple.I'm not a big preachee, bible type just a person with a personal faith.I don't go to church.Anyway G live and let live...we all have our beliefs so what if people don't believe as you do....don't sweat it.:)

Aah, okay you got me there, I don't believe in the description of the 'Abrahamic God of the bible' too. Cool, I can 100% agree with you on that one. Though I do believe in A single diety made up from human-kind that I (and I guess many others who read & understood the book) call God. :)

I guess my point was trying to show how somewhat 'logical' people can believe in A God, did I achieve that? :)

Look at your birth certificate, the name is listed under father and to to make it 100% sure, you can always take a DNA test to see that is a correct name which is listed. :)
