your statement doesn't have any sense at all.... because until now that worked... So basically what are you saying... that recently fs figured out that is illegal to re-upload dmca files and removed that option...

Re-uploading dmca take down files is definitely illegal at all times. Filesonic might have removed that option in order to reduce that tendency.

That's weird.. anyone experiencing anythin like this. I remote upload my files using Filesonic from Dropbox. My files get transferred successfully to My files folder. But it has passphrase=10jrlfandlfan at the end.. that's weird..

anyway, all i did was just to edit the name to remove that passphrase at the end. hehe.. Weird.. Anyway, I hink the new template is ok. Takes a while to get use to,it but in the end, it's faster managing it then the old one. For me that is. Thanks.

    Hi Hish,

Couldn't drop you a PM, so I tell you right here: if you check your PM inbox you'll find the history of my complaints and how you helped me a few months ago. Just want to say thanks once again and to inform you that I've purchased 1-year premium acc. Everything is fine now :)

I know we all know what your really talking about there dkp, but ...

There are times when things are removed that shouldn't be - I mean no one actually checks dmca complaints, they just delete the files.
Example - I am a musician and a while ago I uploaded 3 tracks of my own music (a sort of mini ep) - they where clearly posted as my own original work in a place where people post their own work all the time. Guess what ? deleted under dmca. Now I own the rights to that and if I want to re-upload I will (and did). I'd love to know which prat reported it. Anyway it's only illegal if the poster doesn't own the rights - obviously it was illegal in the first place to upload that kind of stuff but that's another conversation.
I think a lot of people just assume that filesonic (or whatever host) is only used for 'dodgy' purposes, but that simply ain't true - some of us really do own the rights to (at least some) of the stuff we upload :) (but it still get's dmca'd sometimes)
Just to be fair I must say this false dmca thing is not just a fsn problem - in fact I received a few threatening emails from a lawyer in the US a while back saying I owed a load of money for distributing music on my website and if I don't pay they would take me to court on behalf of their client. Of course the music in question was my own work but they still insisted I remove it from my own website. I laughed at them but they kept coming - eventually they revealed that their client was ... wait for it ... me ! So I did a bit of research and it turns out they had been doing the same thing to lots of people, working on the principal of getting material deleted first, then trying to claim a wage from the 'true' content owner retrospectively for services provided. They didn't care what the material was or who owned it - they just spent their time sending dmca complaint after dmca complaint all day long and getting everything they could deleted. Seriously there are people out there who really do that and they get away with it because (and this is just a guess) there is no way all the dmca complaints could be checked properly or the staff wouldn't have time for anything else.

They sent the same emails to an ozzy tribute band I built a website for - the website was 100% within the law but they gave it a good go with official looking threatening emails and such.

Of course non of this helps much (just a rant really) because it doesn't offer any answers - but it does pose a question or two about who the bad guy really is :)

Hello, I have a trouble in changing my account setting.
When I click on the confirm link that FS sent me (filesonic.com/user/confirm-settings/fac3ce8c2a5176d6c) , the page responds: Error: Confirmation code not found in database.

Click or copy/paste has the same result [IMG]

Is it just me but when I remote-up files, filesonic will download a single file and two links shows up? One of them will end up as "ERROR UNKNOWN; Invalid Link""

    Hi,

We are working on Remote Upload at the moment - Filepost was working yesterday for a while but now it seems to have issues - we're aware of this and it will be fixed :)
