I'd have to agree on that, there's far too many assumptions made in P&R based on peoples race/religion
What exactly has that got to do with immigration? You're saying all Mexicans are useless because the country isn't as successful as others?
I think our standards are out of wack. We'd rather import poverty then import true demand. Plenty of doctors and pilots would come here. I know pilot for sure, because our flight standards are more lax, especially on vision. Pilot's wouldn't come here illegally, because there's no way they could work illegally. I think there needs to be fundamental review of what's really needed vs what others need.
OK, well your "sides" contention is only the low skilled, "low value" mexicans are the ones immigrating here illegally right? So if the best of mexico can't do good for their nation.. then it would lead one to presume that those unskilled will (I'll let you pick and choose): 1) Be GREAT for America 2) be so so for America 3) be harmful for America
It exactly describes the people who pretend to be patriotic and against immigration because they want to protect the race and American culture. The Americans who are too uneducated and too lazy to get a decent job and too lazy to work as unskilled labor. They imagine that if there was no Mexican who works hard for his wages, the employers will be forced to pay them for dragging their butts and the government will also have more money and their welfare checks will be larger.
I was inviting you to put your case forward so I could understand why you think illegal immigration is such an issue. This is my research.
Perhaps I've misunderstood your statement: . -But I think not. You've simply got the law wrong. There is no country-specific allotment - not for decades, now - and when there was, it never favored Mexicans. I'd suggest re-reading the history. Mojo - firstly, you were the one that brought up race as a counterpoint, and then asked me why I was bringing up race, given that Mexicans are comprised of many ethnicities. Secondly, you are asking a counterfactual, which I can't answer. In truth, were the historical record reversed, and there was a history of institutional discrimination against a white minority, I have every reason to believe a similar policy, and attempt at legislated restitution, would be carried out. So I don't agree with you. If whites were in the minority, I don't agree that preference would go to non-whites. My lad is ready for his dad to make his dinner...I'll have to return later. Best, Paul
to me, there is no American Race. we are all Americans, black white brown yellow red and other. To the govt however, there are several. Frustrating, to say the least.
According to the IMF, Mexico is the 13th largest economy in the world, so it can't be aaaall that bad. The problem is with the distribution of wealth and income per capita, though.
Yes, because it is the white Americans who ultimately pay the price for illegal immigration in terms of 1)higher taxes to pay for them and their kids 2)lower over-all wages 3)affirmative action being one way only (e.g.; Against white Americans. White mexicans still are a minority) 4)infrastructure costs (over half here don't pay taxes, so who foots the road repair bills?) 5) higher insurance (auto, health..etc) 6) higher crime rates etc etc etc. well this is infact the case currently in California.
If your problem is with illegal immigration then the solution is simple, make them legal immigrants and lets the Americans and Mexicans fight for the available jobs and let's the best man in term work ethic win. Are you afraid that your white Americans are not as good as Mexican and can not compete with them in open market economy ? What are you, a commie?
I would like nothing more than to review what I looked at many years ago, but that take a lot of time, which I honestly shouldn't be wasting on the net. I sincerly hope that you just take a peek at that issue. But I understand your view, because on the surface it appears to be neligable. I took that stances about 2-3 years ago. I was an open border libertarian, but those things slowly bubbled up in my eyes.
You're so misguided. If mexico and it's workers were worth even half of what the avg American worker was in terms of skill and innovation, it would be reflected in the mexican economy.
But obviously they scare the shit out of you and turned you to a commie who doesn't believe in market economy.
Frankly I wish Mexico was like Canada, but what are going to do but hope they continue on their way to progess. Frankly I believe this issue will come down in a way that won't appeal to me, but atleast it's not extremists that will be given a form of amnesty...hopefully. That's the best I can view it.
Scares me? your the "side" that can't seem to do it in mexico. The market economy already proves you wrong. America is greater than mexico. What makes you think having illegal aliens here will make them (as workers) better than they were in mexico? your "fair market" has already proven you wrong... mexico's economy sucks, it's market sucks, it work force by and large is under skilled and under educated. Perhaps someday the mexican economy will be better than America's... but that will only happen if they keep sending their unskilled to America, flooding us with "their problems" instead of resolving their own.
America's economy is greater than Mexico, no argument there but that was not the question. The question was the competition for available unskilled jobs between Americans and Mexicans and that seems to scare you. The only reasonable assumption can be that you believe that you and the people that you try to represent, are not as good as Mexicans and will have no chance in competing with them. That is the reason your turn your back to market economy and like a good commie start crying that uncle Sam should protect you against bad Mexicans that work harder and better than you do.
Who are you to judge a nation? What you have said is absurd. Just because Mexico is not as rich as America you think you have the right to dismiss a nation that has existed for thousands of years.
