Well, they do imporve some but one really need lots of them to notice any changes. It seems like a closed circle because the bigger the number of links a directory has the more diluted a single link becomes , and on the the other hand the directories that have less links do not have any juice themselves as to pass on the links listed.

 

Hi Nicole, Directory submission are effective if you are submitting your site to High PR directory. It will be good for generating Backlink. It also helpful to get some traffic to your site.

Of course directories help your ranking as long as you have one way backlinks.
the weight of directories has not been very good for some years.

 

If you go to google and put in top article directories list. It will give you a list of them and there pr rankings.
