Straight to the point answer: Linux. Long answer: I guess it all depends on what you want to do on it. If it's just every day things, like writing emails, web surfing, watching videos & listening to music... Well both OS's offer that. Linux is much much more secure, no viruses etc. So really you're better of going with that one. How ever, if you're wanting to play the latest games, I guess Windows would be better suited to you. Although, quite a few decent games can be played on Linux using WINE.

Linux - Although the majority Linux variants have improved dramatically in ease of use, Windows is still much easier to use for new computer users. well windows is more organized and used world wide by most of the user where linux is a open source soft were and its free though it has not expected user. may be the reason is it is not that much user friendly and it has got different versions and it is virus free. where as windows are expensive and are always in a constant thread of virus. yet it win customers just because its user friendly and it has got relatively high variations of applications that's why people like it. linux is lacking behind in this concern. so its not the question which one is better, question is which one is getting more customer. and here windows is way ahead of Linux.
Linux has the same built in to each version, easily accessible, up to date and available online or offline.

It depends on the user. For a human who has never touched a PC, Windows is probably best. For medium to advance users Linux is definitely a good choice since is more stable and open.
Both are power full but linux is open source and free of licence, second still it is virus free mean no virus generated / came out for it yet.
