Hello, I am VERY new to the subject SEO, I have some foggy idea of how it works. Although my Pagerank is 1, but traffic isn't working with me. So what and how should I increase the traffic to my site? Thank you.
Traffic and Page rank are completely two different aspects. Page rank is the trust google has in your site based on the various backlinks to your site/domain. Traffic on the other hand is a different scenario. Try to bookmark your articles or site into Stumbleupon/Digg/Reddit and so on. They are a good source of instant traffic. Keep doing that for a while and with good onpage/offpage seo you can start seeing traffic coming through.

Dude.. Again. You are MIXING up Page rank and traffic. They are completely two different bits. High PR doesn't mean high traffic. To get your site or page to rank for the keywords, you should build back links with that keyword as the anchor text pointing to your site or page.
My apology, Im very new into it as I said, may I know this anchor text pointing thing? and how do I build those backlinks?
Ex: You place a link on another site with < a href = "your url" >Your keyword here< / a> Your keyword here will be the keyword you want to rank the page for. Hope this helps.
Haha, thanks I did a research of what you just said earlier before this post. Truly, so the site can be anywhere? anything that is close to what I'm promoting? And is Google the only option to look for those blogs/sites?
Google is the ideal choice. Yahoo was but since they shut down their site explorer, it leaves us just with GOogle. You could try Bing and others but none come close.
Hi tays0c, -The basic way you work it is that you choose something you want to promote. Say, Dolphin Wings. If you can, you name your site dolphinwings.com. -But regardless, then you build a page called "dolphin wings" -Then you create an article called "dolphin wings" to put on the page. -Inside that article about dolphin wings, you make sure to mention dolphin wings several times. -You make sure that your first key phrase in you keyword list is dolphin wings and then choose the next few key words related to dolphin wings that you used most in your article and use them for keywords too. Each page in your website is its very own little website as far as Google is concerned. You can go get backlinks to your site or individual pages. The higher PR backlinks you can get the better to help your site go up in PR. With better PR comes better positioning in the search engine, and the higher you move up the more traffic you will get. Ok let's say, I've scroll through one of some hosting sites ran by a friend, http://vintayge.com he's not doing any well either, so what did he do wrong? Because I'm trying to research some sites before I start my forum.
One huge problem with DP is the the advice thrown around here is completely insane. SEO is one of several factors to consider when launching or maintaining something. It is not an answer or cure all to anything. Your friends issues start with the site being a hot mess design wise. Relative to any hosting site on the planet for the most part. I have said this more times than I recount but here we go again. It is Google's job and mission in life(less making crazy amounts of cash on advertising) to return the most relevant result for x query. In order to rank well you have to make your site actually relevant. This is not done with linkwheels, blog commenting, directory submissions or anything else offered in the services section here on DP. So, the question is, How do I make my site actually relevant? That is, at times, a tad complicated to address without looking things over but I can tell you that page rank means absolutely nothing in terms of ranking things. This has been the case for years. and.. Norm is basically spot on there in terms of some basic structure etc. Don't mind his somewhat gratuitous pitch for his services. Thus far, he is entirely accurate. Largely, my point is, that you can not simply hurl links at the problem, it no longer works and only causes problems. I always hope that helps but, given I used to make some sorta inordinate amount of posts here and no one listened, then or now, I fail to see the point in expanding on the topic. Above posts explain everything so I will just add few tips to increase your traffic.. and it is Social bookmarking, Social media(Facebook, Twitter) and Forum Participation.
But still, it's a hosting site, how can there be any new information? Unless... he has to setup another blog/site that has new and unique information, that is associate with vintayge.com am I right?

Try to social media marketing it's very popular way to increase to get more traffic or lot's of back link.
PR does not = rankings / trafic. PR helps, but it's not the be-all-end all. If you need quick traffic then I'd suggest becoming a member of a handful of different forums, groups, etc in your niche. If you provide good information and link to your site in your sig you'll see a steady flow of traffic each day. Not a ton, but it's usually highly targeted and converts well.
