As a publisher....What do you want?

As a publisher, other than high cpm's which we all love. What are some things that an ad network can do to win you over?

My main reason for choosing a network, is amazing support. If the support is good, and my rep is good then usually i go with them.

    What about you?

    Lots and lots of control:

    • Very specific Geo-targeting
    • Control over times ads run
    • List of sites the ads appear on based on filters with option to add/remove
    • Lots of ad size and type options
    • On-the-fly changes (no waiting a few days for campaign changes to occur)
    • Very detailed reports available at any time
    • Easy to use control panel where I can do almost anything (not having to contact support to make changes to campaign settings)

Knowledgeable support staff that know me. I don't want to talk to a random person every time I contact support. I want to know that there are a few people assigned to me who stay familiar with me and my campaigns. The support staff should also be highly responsive, showing speed in both getting back to me and taking necessary action. I also want a support staff that will do everything that I could do on my own with the previously mentioned easy to use control panel. I don't care if I could do it myself, I want support staff that do what I ask and tell me afterwards that in the future I have the option of using the CP for it, but that they are happy to handle things for me if I prefer it.

Rates offered don't have to be the best, but I want to see competitive ones, even from a company that has everything else I want.

Looking at PremiumCPM specifically, I had quite a few thoughts. I will send you a PM with them as you did not ask in this post for us to specifically discuss that site/company.

Thanks i don't see where a lot of those fit into a "Publisher"... those are features which seem most suiting for an Advertiser. All of them are good though!

    Hi Wrekoniz,

You brought up a very interesting subject here.

Of course high CPMs are important. But another important thing is to have a real person on the other side and not just a computer; not only for the “friendly” side of things (although, if you ask us, it’s also really important) – but for the simple reason that having a really good account manager can actually make all the difference in a campaign and a partnership. A good optimization can even triple the CPM the publisher is getting.

We believe the most important thing to look for is a partner, someone that will invest in the relationship for the long term- and make sure both sides benefits as much as they can.

You are right, I switched to two around (not the first time I have mixed the two up).

As a publisher (someone with a website who wants to get paid for displaying ads):

    • Competitive payouts, they don't have to be the best but at least competitive
    • Good support staff that have web programming/design knowledge
    • Lots and lots of ad size options
    • Control over the types of ads I serve

Of course CPM and Ad relevancy is the most important... But one more thing I would love to have in my network is, ads for mobile websites too.

Its a good idea but you have to apply new ads and high CPMS. You should hard work regularly.

The circulation of ad inventory. Lots of networks have the same 5-10 ads per category showing. Need more variety to test best optimized ads

Thats true. but a good network will optimize it for you so you dont need to worry about monetizing your own inventory. You know what i mean?
