Has anyone sold a domain on GoDaddy?

I just got an email that I sold a domain of mine... for a whopping 25K, and wonder if anyone has sold a domain through Godaddy before? If so... how long did it take to get payment? Are there a lot of people that enter fake bids and never pay?

I'm trying not to get my hopes up...but really hope I get the cash for this!

Yes, I have sold a domain via the godaddy auction site. It is all regulated and formally handled by godaddy. Once you accept the purchase (if it was an offer) then the person has a set amount of time to make the payment to go daddy. Once they have made the payment to go daddy, godaddy emails you to let you know that they have your money. Once the person requests a transfer of the domain the process is started and you then receive your money via paypal or whatever method you selected.

It does take time for this process to be completed, at least mine did. I think I actually received my money about 3 weeks to a month after I first heard about the sale happening. Of course mine was for much less than 25,000 bucks. I think a lot of it has to do with how quick the buyer is to complete the transaction. If you get a email saying that they have made the payment to go daddy...you are on the home stretch.

Wow, great sale and I hope it works out for you. Just curious, what domain name was it that sold for 25K? Just curious since that is a good sale.

Thanks for the info... this was a fixed price listing. I'm not sure why, but am going to wait before posting what the domain was in public....guess I'm a bit paranoid for some reason. If it does go through I'll post what the domain was.

I called godaddy tonight to get more info, but I'll have to call during the daytime as there wasn't anyone there to give me more info on the transaction. I really really hope this goes through!

I hope so too... I had it as a "Buy it Now" on GoDaddy...

I wonder if you have to set up an account or enter your login info to go through the buy now process?

Tdnam is crap. They do not pursue buyers and I have had several names apparently sold there that were never actually paid for. If the domain was not worth 25k, I expect it is a kid thinking he/she is very funny. The system at Tdnam is terrible and is regularly abused in my experience. I once had a name "sold" through BIN there that I had paid a listing fee for, within about 10mins of putting it up for sale. Tdnam never secured the deal though, then refused to refund my listing fee.
I sincerely hope none of this happens to you, but forewarned is forearmed.

I hope you are wrong, but my gut feeling tells me this is probably what has happened. I just called and asked about "joke bids" and the dude said it was a very serious bidding environment and if it was a joke they wouldn't be laughing in a couple of weeks. Overall though... I think it probably is a joke bid. If it isn't a joke bid and I get paid, I'll buy everyone here a beer.

What makes a person go through the effort to place a phony bid anyway? I mean seriously... wtf?

They have, in fact they have to buy the access for $4.99... Well, if it's somebody with a stolen creditcard you have no chance, but if its somebody with a godaddy account and domains in this account, he will get trouble for a fake buy... (I hope) Please keep us updated!

I'll be glad to buy ya one.... if this sells I'm going to be a very happy camper. I have to say that tdnam.com totally sucks the way they have it set up. They give you pretty much zero information about the buyer.... you are left in the dark. From my calls they said that after 9 days I can call back and then they can contact them to see about payment. But, how do I know they would really contact them? It should be like eBay where you have an ID and give positive or negative feedback.

I'm going to have to write Bob Parsons a letter on this one...their domain buying/selling site needs some serious work.
