This is what I would get....I only need 12 billion more clicks http://www.teslamotors.com/index.php?js_enabled=1
MTV shows a good show how people are able to create such slightly hybrid cars from a piece of junk I think a tuning garage would do it for about 25K maybe more. Add a price of an original car, and you will have the total.
o rly? - Honda Insight, 840 kg, 3.5 l/100, $19.330 (manual) or $21.530 (automatic) - Honda Civic, $2.000 for an hybrid-upgrade, 4.6 l/100 km just what found quick, maybe there are even some better alternatives...
wow, a useful show on MTV...that has to be a 1st for them. 25K good grief, you could buy a brand new hybrid for nearly that much!!
The Chevy Silverado Hybrid pickup truck is awesome looking. Looks better than most toaster-on-wheels and can still do pickup truck duty: http://www.chevrolet.com/silverado
If the fuel was cheap and the stations plentiful, I'd be interested in a flex fuel vehicle as well. Alas, neither statement is true so I'll have to continue eating my corn and not burning it.
Exactly.. the E85 gas that you could use is 18 cents per gallon higher than the cheap stuff around here.. also, there is only 1 station that offers it, which is a major pain if you want E85.
I think biodiesel will be a good alternative in the near future. Not so much now. I prefer butanol to ethanol, if the bioprocess pans out...as ethanol can't go through our existing piping infrastructure. http://www.greencarcongress.com/2006/06/bp_and_dupont_t.html
100% electric? Now do they burn coal or use nuclear fission to create the electricity to recharge the thing? Not too enviro but electric can be fast and silent.
Build your own! Check out White Zombie. And also NEDRA - National Electric Drag Racing Association. I think this is exactly what the hybrid/electric car movement needs. As soon as the general community sees what electric cars can do on a drag strip (in terms of performance), then people will realize that electricity is actually pretty good stuff - regardless of the sissy environmental benefits. The rx400h looks pretty nice and is REALLY nice on the inside. It's extremely smooth...it's a Lexus. My mom owns one, it doesn't get the 70mpg like some...maybe 30-40 but that's nice for a mid-sized SUV. If you drive it right you can get a lot more out of it (maybe 50-70, that's being VERY careful though). It's got more power than the gasoline version too!
Well, if you are going to go for that you might as well go for a Motorcycle or scooter. A vespa (or something similar) can get 70-95mpg. That's impressive. I saw this one for sale for $7000 that got 92 mpg
