Winter is here and that means static electricity is too. We have wood floors so when I sit down and touch my laptop I get SHOCKED!

I typically work in the dining room and I'm looking for a solution that would help reduce the number of shocks I get each day.

I've seen some ESD floor mats but I don't think my wife would appreciate that.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated! :D

AHHH I friggin hate static electricity with a passion.....I get it soooo bad...Its not normal how bad I get it every winter. I mean you can see the spark when I get in and out of a car, or touch anything metal! I forgot all about it till you said something....I have been getting shocked for the last week and it didn't even cross my mind lol!

Ouch! Believe me that hurts .... I got a SHOCKING kiss, owing to that about a year ago ... lol!

First the basics that I do when I experience that shock!

    - Avoid wool, nylon and other synthetic clothes.
    - wear leather soled footwear

    Other than that,
    - Bring home an artificial humidifier, haven't tried it but has worked wonders for a friend.
    - Keep something metal in your hands, maybe a ring and before touching ur LT ... just drift it to the machine and it'll be discharged.
    - This one may sound a bit girlish, but my cousin told me this ... apply some moisturiser on your hands and legs and other body parts that generally rub against the ground or so ... she says its works good!
    - Ask aunt to line-dry ur clothes rather than in some kinda dryer.
    -

Btw, I found this in a forward I got a while ago, might be useful!

    Hope it helps!

    Abhishek

Now that's something I would love to try doing some time!!! I live next to a wild life animal park and have been shocked on their electric fence once, back when I was working there, and da shock was much stronger than a normal electric fence!! Maybe I should go back to that fence and try that!!! :D:D:D:D

My cat gets shocked and you can see sparks when she touches her nose on my foot.

My wife and I have to defuse ourselves before we kiss or it shocks our lips.
