Tonight i had a interresting conversation with one of the other members on DP, by Pm. He was looking for Hosting and i was offering him some help, i gave him the thread i specified the rules and details of the help i offered, but then he said to me something interresting: It is forbidden to host offshore in the usa. (meaning a usa citizen can only host within the usa) i asked him where that info came from, and he said he would be in trouble hosting it with me in germany. My question, is the usa goverment, having laws about hosting your site outside the usa ?? i never heard about it. Someone is free to host it's site where ever he/she wants in my opinion, Offshore would bring some advantages legalwise i think but i don't see a issue, am i wrong?? Peter
If you plan on hosting warez or whatnot on an offshore host, you can still be charged as you're based in the US. There's no law against hosting something legitimate elsewhere though.
