Directory for Directory owners + community

I recently started a new project for directory owners

The main part of the site is for directory owners to submit their directories. Of course with the added bonus of reviews and rating features.

However I am planning to build the site out as a niche community as well. Do most directory owners find such sites useful or interesting at all or just feel it's a waste of time.

I just want to know if should remove the community features of the site and keep it strictly a directory.

I want to build a community around just seeing if there is a market for it really.

I think the main thing is you need to give them a good reason to participate, and then be ready to help keep the conversation going. It's always difficult to get a community started, but once you reach the critical mass, it is easy.

 

Good point for sure I have had my trials in the past with communities hopefully there will be a few bored directory owners around lol. I am not really looking to make money off this project just want to create a small niche community.
