So check this out YPN kicks me out for quality of my traffic here' the kicker 95% of it comes from my directory listing with them Go figure
even if it comes from their directory it's possible the traffic is still low quality. the myspace sites are the most common example. if you have a site with users that just don't convert, unfortunately it's a possibility. it's good to be careful and avoid using it on such sites, so you can use it on sites that do convert.
to some extent, common sense. if your users are underage and people are advertising things that require a credit card, chances are things won't convert well, for example. you can also have some idea by previously using affiliate programs and see how well you can get them to convert.
valid points, only slightly plausable. understood that some sites attract younger people and that these people probuably will not convert. all of my sites are for the general public, regardless of age (or location). i use affiliate programs on my sites as well. some convert, some dont. that is the name of the game. if it were easy to convert affiliates, we wouldnt need ypn. 1 affiliate sale per day could equal or exceed what ypn pays for "valid" clicks. that doesnt mean you wont get a sale, and it doesnt mean your visitors dont convert if they dont buy what you are offering. i still say ypn should give some forewarning that a site is not performing well on their network and that the publisher should be concerned about it. at least give publishers the chance to remove ads from sites that ypn feels are not converting. much better than kicking people out all together. jmo
To us little people with not much hope of making the big money we want for a better life and only have the lottery and this sort of thing its a killer like someone taking your arm off. I pray for you today
Sorry to read about your situation. What kind of sites? I'm not asking for URL's, but maybe you can share the general categories like finance, gaming, dating, etc.
Next month I vow to try to reduce my dependence on Yahoo revenue. So many questions. I wish yahoo publisher would create an entry on thier blog about this.
Sorry to hear it, NameMonster. Did you have a GEO-Filter? hmm, how long do you have to be using YPN to get evaluated? I just got accepted and am kind of worried my site is not converting as well as Yahoo would like. Im targeting the same category as my site but the clicks seem to be paying too much. I tried blocking out a bunch of them but its about the same RPC. I dont understand how/if the Advertisers are getting their money back. Wouldnt it just make sense for Yahoo to pay less and keep all of the advertisers?
now thats a first. your getting paid too much and you are trying to filter out these high paying ads? thanks for the laugh. very funny.
I was going to write something nice, but not all myspace sites are "spammy" so there was no need for that. Good luck to you though, in future.
oh, I agree with that completely. I'm just saying, there are ways to have a clue about what may not be a great site to run YPN on. and I'm guessing they're going to be more strict if you're running a teen chat site and use the ad targeting to show ads about finance.
I think what he said was there wasetn myspace or spammy sites, he wasent saying that myspace sites were the spammy sites.
