United States Heading towards a Depression?

I need reminding on this - who exactly is the US defending itself against? Which particular country or group of countries is preparing to invade?

I guess that being engaged in warring conflicts on other countries' territories is one problems, that almost none of the large and developed countries have managed to aviod. For now, it's not only about the USA, but the Russian Federation, and France (the recent revolution in Libya, for instance)..
