I agree GoDaddy are the best, with excellent customer service, but beware of expensive add on's.

I've heard of a lot of people having problems with 1and1 if you do use them research some reviews beforehand. I use godaddy for most of my domains. I've also used optinom in past. Had no problems with them.

GoDaddy is good. For bulk orders you can check for domain coupons for GoDaddy. Usually 30% off coupons on bulk orders is a very popular discount. Check on Google for GoDaddy discount codes and you can get some options.

If you want something cheap (well cheaper :D) and also safe, you can try GoDaddy.

123 Reg are also quite good, sometimes they have cheap deals when buying domains, plus they have quite a good UI.

It really depends on what services you will be looking for the registrar to handle for you. If you will be looking for your registrar to provide a lot of services (such as hosting, web design, SSL, etc.), then Go Daddy is probably a good choice. Their customer service is fine most of the time and they are setup to accommodate lots of services other than just domains. Namecheap is also a good company and a little less expensive all things considered. If you just need domain registration/management from your registrar, I would recommend focusing on price and ease of use as the deciding factors. I personally use Namesilo since they are very good about staying out of the way and let me register/manage my domains quickly and without a bunch of annoying upsells and promotions for services I don't need from them. Their prices are also really low. The only drawback to Namesilo is that they only support a handful of TLDs. In the end, find a company that has good reviews, good pricing and fits your needs. Also, make sure they are ICANN-accredited.

You should be more worried about where you're going to host your website than where you're going to register your domain name. (If you didn't know hosting and domain registration doesn't have to be with the same business.)

Godaddy is one of the best (I've been a re-seller for years and the service is excellent). Check out Hostgator for your hosting.

If you are planning to register domain name, I would recommend you to choose ICAN-accredited registrar.
For buying and selling domain names SEDO will be a good place.

namecheap is cheaper in my opinion but godaddy is more used one. if you buy for yourself, use namecheap, if you plan to sell it later use godaddy

I myself would only recommend NetworkSolutions, and not a single company other than them. Why? Because GoDaddy and many other companies have been spotted on the net multiple times for controversial account closures and domain sales. Yeah, networksolutions are maybe the most expencive but I feel safe with them.

Please tell me you're kidding! You pay 4x more for the same domain, just because they make you feel "safe" - get real, buddy. That's a false sense of security. They are a bunch of scammers. Here, I have Googled it for you ...

I suggest registering with Godaddy or Namecheap or, if you have to register "offshore" for some obscure reason, Gandi.net.

Suggesting Network Solutions is like publicly failing an IQ test.
