This is less of a political issue than a social issue.

Skepticism is a great, apathy is not. Whats funny is, your posts make it sound like you are not a fan of the status quo, but by promoting apathy, you guarantee the status quo. Hell, it's practically Obama's reelection campaign slogan.

Sure I suck, but the Republicans are worse!

    Obama 2012

Do you keep the guy in power who lies, cheats, flip flops, demagogues, and steals, who has proven he can't govern, or do you take a chance with a guy who lies, cheats, flip flops, demagogues, and steals, who might actually have that skill (or in the case of Gingrich, have proven to have that skill). The choice is pretty obvious, even with a healthy dose of skepticism.

True that. Bejamin Franklin is quoted, but not proven to have said:

Taking responsibility for your own actions can prevent much of socialistic tendencies in society.

Good one. And for as long as the general public itself practices irresponsible behavior and allows themselves to be slaves to the credit system, they will not likely grow into a population demanding responsibility from its representatives.

umm i find this funny as i do not nor have i ever supported obama, in fact i find the "flip floppers" to be those i debated against who supported bush's spending but now attack democrats for the same/similiar thing. you sound like all the brain washed masses who pick one side or the other and keeps us in this same old battle of worthless politicians.

get obamas punk ass out of office, simply be truthful and dont support a party blindly whom has done the same thing and many on this board supported but now "flip flopped"

i was against stimulus during bush and during obama, no change in stance depending on whom is in power unlike some around here...

btw i supported mccain before all his flip flopping drew the republicans of this board to him, i then supported ron paul, so far this time around i do not support anyone
i sure wont support obama, i also wont flip flop my stance to support a candidate which appears to be very popular.............

Do you think voting "None of the above" is somehow different than voting for the incumbent? Lets be honest, by the time the vote gets to you, and especially to me, you will realistically have two less than perfect candidates to chose from. It will remain that way so long as our electoral process remains the way it is.

Agreed. Best example: John Kerrey 2004. The "war hero". By the time he received the Democratic nomination, his true record came out, but since it is a 2 party system and he was number 2, there was no qualified alternative for George Bush.

Henry Blodget has been doing a great job showing how rich people do not create jobs. LINK

I confess I had doubts about the veracity of the statement that the rich people are responsible
    for creating jobs.

It is funny to see people who actually have money ask for higher tax and pay their fair shares while some members of this forum who live by collecting empty beer bottles are worried that tax is too high for the day that they are going to strike it rich and ask for lower taxes.

I would doubt the statement that only democrats create debt, the exceeding defence spending is also creating the dept, whereas the budget problems are also increased by Republicans' refusal to increase taxes for the wealthiest citizen.

Both sides have got their cons, but after the war Iraq, I'd never vote for Republicans again

Democrats didn't start the fire, but they surely ensure it keeps on burning.

Who would not, I'm absoultely confident of the fact that even the most candid and noble people are mostly betraying their principles, having entered politics

On the way to the Presidency a candidate will sell his values daily, so by the time he gets into office, there is nothing left of him.

That's over 70% in SOCIAL SPENDING.

When you look at a graph like this, it's fairly easy to see that making major cuts to defense spending will have absolutely no impact whatsoever with regard to lowering our debt.

There are more and more people CONSUMING every day. Those consuming will soon outnumber those producing. When that happens, we are Greece, Italy and Spain. We're bust.

Until we get things like SS, Medicare, Medicaid and other social programs under control, no amount of tax increases or defense spending cuts will make any noticeable impact.

LOL. Only some one like mia can post a graph like this without understanding what it means. Can you see and read that defense spending is almost equal to social security or Medicare?
