I am trying to submit my websites to dmoz.org. But all the time it shows as --- Service Temporarily Unavailable
Can some one tell me what is the problem or dmoz.org is closed now? I am facing this problem for last one month. If some one knows any alternate method of submission to dmoz.org kindly let me know.

    thanks

Is it within your powers at all to actually be helpful? What do you do jump from thread to thread looking for someone to bash?

Scroll back up, or check out my quote below. Come on, you can do it... be helpful for a change!

goldenpearl where are you getting this error at? After submitting your site? If that is the case, then there could be something wrong with the process. Either way though, NO ONE can help you without more information as to what the problem actually is.

DMOZ is certainly up & running...

Just read around this forum and you will see that,IF you site complies with DMOZ guidelines, it will be listed WHEN it gets a review. But reviews can take from a few days to a FEW YEARS.

I agree... most people submit to directories and leave it at that, there is positively NO reason one should go back to any of them to see if they are listed or not. You have pretty much the same change of getting listed here as any other directory, so simply submit & forget. If you don't get listed treat it like the hundreds of other directories that got started and then had it's owners forget about it...

DMOZ is open, trust me, the reason why I know is that i am waiting for them to approve my website and put it in the directory. It should be soon because I have been waiting now for 3 years. I think that they must be using my site as an example to train their employees on what a really great website should be like. It should be any day now............

I was thinking of Google Directory by accident. And at the time of OP's original post DMOZ was down for me also. It is now up and running.

If you were thinking about Google Directory why were you seeing DMOZ down?
DMOZ is alive and well, accepting new editors and still open for suggestions.

Reminds me of an old UK saying about thought, it followed a muck cart and thought it were a wedding.

    So?

None of those places actually USE the data for much of anything. If you are going by the information provided on the DMOZ site itself, that information is VERY VERY VERY outdated.

AOL does not even use the ODP data, and they own the freaken thing!
