As the title suggests, Saudi Arabia is trying to censor ads Canadians see on TV.

You can read the whole story - here.

Anyway, here is the ad they don't want to be seen:

And everyone is surprised .... not . True freedom never existed in the there and will probably never exist . Here's a bonus video for those who forgot how wonderful the Islamic law is :

I'd like to see on what grounds they asked that approval of the ad be withdrawn (just to have something else to laugh at). But of course we won't see that until the day after the heat death of the universe.

Me too. The ad is all true, I can't think of what possible grounds they could ask for it to be pulled. Anyway, in the article it says Ethical Oil tried to get a copy of the cease and desist letter (to the Telecaster), but the legal representative for Saudi Arabia refused. Ethical Oil put out a press release on November 15, saying they are expanding their campaign to the United States. Canada is already the top country the US imports oil from, and I think Saudi Arabia and Mexico are 2nd and 3rd.

I can wait to see the day when the first fusion reactor will power up and their entire demented system shatters . All we need to do is play our cards right and not let them get their claws on such technology . Then they won't have the money to sustain terrorists or their bloated population .

I doubt that would be the case because there are many other countries desperate for oil, and these countries will substitute US. A total and global independence from petro-chem is a farcry, as of now.

Desperate for oil yes but without the cash to pay for it especially since the more sought after it will be the more expensive it will be . Even if fusion isn't achieved and the world collapses they only have 70 years left of oil in the SA and a lot less in the rest of the region (factoring in increased demand) . Egypt has started imports already and it was once one of the main exporters .

I can't wait to see ME running out of petro-reserve and in-turn petro-money.. Nearly half of the global terrorism solved. All those fanatics will then fight for their own survival in their own land.. The best part will be - no one else will give a shit.

World is not going to collapse because of petro-chemicals.. Developed and some developing countries are already adapting alternatives.. For example US is looking forward to basic stuffs like electricity to more advanced tech like hydrogen fuel cells. Even here is India, we are adapting Compressed Natural Gas (CNG), which is cheaper and greener, as an alternative to petroleum.
So long before World runs out of petroleum, most of the progressive countries will have viable alternatives. But ME would be a fun place by that time *Evil Grin*

Unfortunately you've hit the spot when it comes to terrorist financing . I remember a documentary on Nat Geo , in 2003 when the US got their hands on a high ranking Al-Queda member they interrogated him and he was slowly talking . To verify the info they fooled him that they transfered him to SA , immediately the guy started talking and asked the guards to phone some people that would demand his immediate release . To the surprise of the CIA the numbers where the personal cell numbers of 3 saudi princes and the chief of the pakistani air force .

What I found amusing was the in 3 months all the princes where dead : one died of a "hear attack" , another one died in a "car crash" and the last one was found dead in the desert because of "dehydration" , given the continuous escorts and heavy security this guys had it was funny as hell to learn that he wandered off in the desert and no one could find him ROFLMAO . It's pretty clear what they where using their money for and it's quite sad that we still give them a ton of money every day .

Under Sharia, women are treated as second-class citizens. For example, the idea that the testimony of one man being equal to the testimony of two women. Women are like prisoners in these countries, unable to leave their home without permission and/or a male guardian, or to do something as simple as to drive a car (in Saudi). It's also sad many Muslim women feel compelled to go through life wearing a big sheet with eye-holes thrown over their head, at least when they don't want to, because they know they will be beaten down otherwise. I remember a Muslim man on here saying how they treat women like jewels. I thought, that's so true -- they do treat women just like they're material possessions they own. Most Muslim dominated countries are the absolute worst places in the world for women to live. Islamic law is an insult to freedom, and basic human dignity.

Because I believe women should have an equal testimony under law? Be able to leave home, and go wherever they want without permission and/or a male guardian? Drive a car? Not wear sheets over their head if they don't want to?

I don't even have or watch a TV.

Wrong. Men are just as prone to forgetting. FYI- Forgetfulness is a human thing, not based on whether you have a penis or not.

    Wrong again.

If someone chooses to do that for their birthday, more power to them. Personally, I don't drink alcohol or even go to clubs.

The fact you would write the above, actually believing that it makes sense, is just so sad and twisted. I don't know what to say. I'm sure your cult indoctrination started early.

Anyway, thanks for dropping by to help prove my point.

Aww.. Come on Rebecca, don't be so close minded.. These men just want to subjugate their women peacefully.. Only occasional 'light' beating is allowed. After all men are just 1 step above women, can't you see it?

    ROTFLMAO!!!!

And then they ask why people dislike Islam or Muslims in general....

    LOL + :)

Basically, what we've been discussing is Islamic law. So yes, it has everything to do with Islam. If women were respected in reality under Islam, they wouldn't be treated as second class citizens. What I mean by that, is enjoying some very basic human rights. If you're confused about which ones I might be referring to, read the posts in this thread. It has nothing to with Obama, the media,...etc.

    Good for you.

It's called domestic abuse by most. Unless you're Muslim (then I guess it's known as a holy recommendation from the Qur'an)

I believe that to be an irrelevant, and untrue statement.

Great, more name calling. I guess it's because you are frustrated, knowing you can't defend Islamic law. You can always become an atheist.

    Not that interested.

No. We are human beings. You have no "right" to try to keep women down.

I wouldn't date anyone that treats me with disrespect.

    You spit in her face?

I think you have a few "issues" with women.

I can tell English is not your first language. But I'll just assume you're trying to say that Islam is akin to bondage and acts of sadomasochism.

(sarcasm-Why didn't I think of that? The only conclusion we can draw from the existence of cute puppies and kittens, is that women must live as subservient, second-class citizens. Makes perfect sense now!-sarcasm)

    LOL, LOL, LOL.

That is an interesting find Rebecca. Being reliant on the Saudi's and middle eastern fuel is a danger to all outside nations. The middle east is a cauldron of terrorism, anger and danger.

The human rights issues are appalling. The treatment of women is appalling. Its a form of slavery. The act by the Saudi Govt to try and stop the ads is totally inappropriate within a free world.

China, the nation with the fastest growing appetite for energy issued its 12th 5 year plan this past March/April. Energy conservation is a significant goal. China faces horrendous problems with pollution resulting in increasing levels of illness and death. China also realizes energy is a national security issue. ( I suspect China doesn't care a whit about the human rights issues)....but they want to limit their need for energy from the Middle East.

I've seen reports how extracting oil from sands requires incredible amounts of energy versus drilling from oils.

Regardless....the human rights issues are another outstanding reason to do everything possible to seriously reduce reliance on middle eastern energy. Buying middle eastern energy.....Its a deal with the devil.

I say Great Job Canada. Put it in their faces. This is about freedom of choice, not what some dictatorship thinks is right. Coming from a country that treats its women like they are sub-human pieces of garbage, it doesn't surprise me.

As for Sharia Law, it's disgusting, despicable, and barbaric. The fact that a country in the 21st century is still living in the dark ages with policies like this is appalling. Those that practice this should have to endure some of these punishments and see how they like it. I'm not sure it would be much. Keep up the good work Canada. Stick it to them and their greedy, money grubbing ways. As mentioned, I can't wait to get another fuel source, whether it be fusion, electric, or whatever as long as we're not dependent on foreign OR domestic oil that speculators and OPEC can drive the price as high as they want.

Exactly. As always, well said. :) On a side note: Do you think Sapphire Energy will ever make it on a large scale? They don't seem to be very well known, kind of a small company. Still, I like the concept. We wouldn't have to buy new cars, they are environmentally friendly, and would create a lot of jobs. There is probably many other, maybe more attractive, or more promising options, I've just been interested in them lately. They make oil out of algae.

    Agreed.

We are discussing Islamic law, what is written in your filthy religious books to justify, and condone treating women as second-class citizens in modern times. Remember, you were just in here saying it's okay to beat women (if they show disrespect), that men are "1 step above women" and how the testimony of a woman is only worth half of a man (because women are supposedly so forgetful). I'm sure on a certain level you do realize it's vile and barbaric, that's why you're now trying to change the subject. If you're that ashamed, I would suggest becoming an apostate. Just don't mention it here, as it's well-known what happens to some who try to escape from the "religion of peace."

Most Muslims in America, and the rest of the world do not want sharia. It seems what we are really talking about here are the lunatics in the middle east that pervert Islam with Sharia, Temporary Marriages, beating, spitting in peoples faces, etc. Here in America, spitting in someone's face, including your wife's, is considered assault and can land you in jail. Beating your wife, same story. Please try not to take the anti-Sharia commentary as anti-Islam. Its really just anti middle eastern primitive, uneducated, barbarism.

Half the world hates Jews? Last time I checked, Jews are pretty popular. Lets see, we got

    Al Jolson
    Barbara Stresiand
    Jason Alexander
    Woody Allen
    David Arquette
    Hank Azaria
    Lauren Bacall
    Sarah Bernhardt
    Yasmine Bleeth
    Lisa Bonet
    Matthew Broderick
    Mel Brooks
    George Burns
    Red Buttons
    Dyan Cannon
    Billy Crystal
    Tony Curtis
    Rodney Dangerfield
    Daniel Day-Lewis
    Kirk Douglas
    Michael Douglas
    Robert Downey, Jr.
    Richard Dreyfuss
    David Duchovny
    Douglas Fairbanks
    Peter Falk
    Harvey Fierstein
    Harrison Ford
    Elliott Gould
    Cary Grant
    Seth Green
    Laurence Harvey
    Goldie Hawn
    Dustin Hoffman
    Judy Holliday
    Harvey Keitel
    Ben Kingsley
    Michael Landon
    Piper Laurie
    Jon Lovitz
    Camryn Manheim
    Juliana Marguiles
    Debra Messing
    Bette Midler
    Yves Montand
    Paul Newman
    Leonard Nimoy
    Gwyneth Paltrow
    Sarah Jessica Parker
    Mandy Patinkin
    Bronson Pinchot
    Tracy Pollan
    Natalie Portman
    Paul Reiser
    Edward G. Robinson
    Wynona Ryder
    Rob Schneider
    Peter Sellers
    Jane Seymour
    William Shatner
    Alicia Silverstone
    Ben Stiller
    Debra Winger
    Noah Wyle

Captain Kirk..... Jewish... Now that was a surprise. Anyway, my point was, whether you are comparing the popularity of the USA, Israel, or Jews in general to the popularity of pretty much any primitive Middle Eastern totalitarian dictatorship ruled under the name "Sharia", you'll find that the USA, Israel, and Jews in general win hands down.

FYI, implying that half the world hates Jews is what most people would call anti-Semitic, or racist. Not that you care.
