I think Win 7 is better than Vista with regard to installatoin and hardware . For example, I install Window 7 in old laptop with 950 MHz/512 MB RAM, it works with a performance equal to, or greater than Windows XP on same laptop with Dual boot ). Installation of Win 7 tok about 35 minutes. I could not find drivers for several hardware on the notebook but I extracted the drivers from the Win XP installation for the same components and they were accepted and functioning. Notebook model is Compaq Presario 1700EA that came with Windows ME preinstalled. Win XP was not in existence when I bought the notebook.

For me, it's not even the fact that Windows 7 is better, but the fact that Windows Vista is worse, than any OS, Microsoft has ever offered with too many bugs in it. Winodws 7 is, on the contrary, working pretty well.
Windows 7 has to woo Windows XP users who have resisted Vista by offering performance and compatibility as well as extra features, and it has to entice Vista users who feel they should have had the performance and compatibility all along by convincing them that it's more than a service pack.
i prefer windows xp is more simple than win7 but i want to ask u guys something Can i install windows vista without cd just to download setup and to install because windows 7 i have installed from setup not booted in cd or flash disk, can also install as windows 7 vista?
Windows 7 is 10 times better than Vista. Much more secure, much faster, and much less buggy. Windows 7 is what windows vista was meant to be. As for running windows 7 on 512mb of ram, as asked in the first post, I think you need at least 1gb.
Totally agree, that Windows 7 is good enough, btw, how about other OS's? I'm accustomed to both Mac and Linux, and to be honest, Linux is better, if you're a programmer, than Windows, any thoughts?
OK folks; You all is talking windows7, now which one are you using the 32b or the 64b? Have not seen this mentioned here. There is a big difference between them. Also comparing a work horse W7 to a oxen vista is like trying to say that a lincolin is the same as toyoto. W7 does need a min. of 1g of ram to run on a 32b system. Perfer 2g You must be going for coffee somewhere while you puter starts up and saves for you. As long as you are using 512mb W7 does need a min. of 2g of ram to run on a 64b system. Perfer 4g Run my lappy with 32b and 4g Desktop with 64b and 8g
I have read reviews of different users in different forums and fount that they were much happy with win7 as compare to vista though XP is still basic operating system for every system at the moment but Win7 is much much better compare to Vista.
I am running win7 with dual processors and 4 gig ram. it's pretty fast and allows multi-tasking with no problem. On a daily basis I normally have about 50+ taps open in chrome and sometime near that amount in firefox while leaving my system running all the time, until it starts to slow down then i will reboot.
Boy your puter must be moving pretty slow with 50 tabs open at the same time.. and in 2 browsers. The snail that your are racing against passed you along time ago. Microsoft had only one other version out that was good and that was windows95. Many companies did not switch from it until 2005. As they needed to.
