Unwanted Spammy Traffic - Does Adsense Penalize because of it?

Looking at the stats from one of my sites I noticed that much traffice was coming from a .ru site and it was doing on a daily basis. I visited the site to find a scammy get rich quick while sitting on your @rse website which, in retrospect, was no surprise.

Will Google, and in some sort of chain reaction, Adsense penalize me for this? Now I've visited the site, which must have been the aim of the "visitor" (to use a polite term) will it go away? Do you simply ignore these types? Am I overreacting?

 

I think large amount of traffic from spammy site is risk for adsense

 

You are not overreacting I think. Also, everything smells "spammy" will end to be banned in google as it violates the TOS i think

 

Best is to take down adSense ads until your traffic issue settles down..

 

This is actually risk your account. Adsense can ban you due to you are giving risk to the Adwords user. Similar case as using some "method" to increase the impression. Better remove your ads before you settle this issue

 

But why is this traffic attracted to these sites?

Also, overall the spammy traffic accounts for less than 1% of total traffic for the sites in mind and I don't do CPM - so why should I allow spammers to cut off my revenue stream? The @wipes can't just be targeting me - they don't work like that - there'll be hundreds or thousands of sites they're targeting with their crappy get rich quick cons. I think I'll contact adsesne and let them know...

 

Well,If I were you, I'd block referrals sent from that site as well as the site's IP. That should settle it down.

I'd defo block the IP's, adsense are very quick to drop the ban hammer in these kind of situations

 

If it’s just 1% then you needn’t worry. If traffic from that specific site looks suspicious, then Google will simply not validate the clicks received from that site.

 

Thanks, I did just ignore it and it went away. I had experience recently with a hostile visitor (probably my old boss who has gone into liquidation again - or some other such lowlife) and Google did exactly that. I think they've turned a corner where banning fro no fault of account holder is concerned and that's fue to the ease of detection.

 

If the traffic came from Russia or china..Adsense mainly suspend the account..better to block the country before your account suspend.
