I've known some adsense gurus advocating on putting relevant images directly above google ad, claiming that it would increase clickthrough rate to some extent, by how much? god knows.

I guess the best way, is to monitor and track it yourself and see.

Which ads (text/images) work best for you depends upon your audience and the content of your websites

I think they both pay pending clicks.

I heard images pay better but they also contain less ads and lessens the chance you'll display an interesting text ad to your visitors. Not to mention it subtracts from the ad blindness and over time people will begin to automatically over look your ad. I find that using text links pays more for me, but it's all up to you what you think is best.

I saw a 160x600 ad for the Daily Show today that was pretty good... a nice change from the plain old text blocks.

I saw that one as well and actually was tempted to click on it. I'm guessing that will be running tonight and tomorrow as well since its Election time.

I think image ads from adsense are too bland to attract any actual attention. I've tried them and needless to say the results weren't pleasing.

    Thank You
