Hi guys, So I run a fair large independent games website called The Spriters Resource, and lately the company who was supplying our ads decided to constantly delay payments. Because of this I've been trying out a few different ad networks, but shock horror, my international rates were... Well, I'll say shocking at best. I've been running Lijit ads for a month now, and on average I say that I get $35 a day from 180,000ish ad impressions from the US only. eCPM of about $0.25 A couple days ago I started running adsense on my international audiences, and these are the results: Date Page views - 243,858 Clicks - 77 Page CTR - 0.03% CPC - UK£0.14 Page RPM - UK£0.05 Estimated earnings - UK£10.99 Basically I'm wondering what you guys think about these results - I sort of expected a bit more, but as I said, its only international ads. Today I'm going to run international and US traffic to try and see how much I can earn with both running at the same time... I suspect it will be less than running Ligit ads. Is there any advice you could give me with regards to increasing these values? Because I personally don't think these are really all that great, at all... I think my problem is that I run a massive website, but don't know the first thing about running a massive website... Here are my analytics stats for August, and they tend to hit about this mark most months; 614,601 Visits 249,551 Unique Visitors 8,263,448 Pageviews 13.45 Pages/Visit 00:07:38 Avg. Time on Site 31.34% Bounce Rate 33.55% % New Visits Any advice you could give? I think I might need to start approaching companies directly regarding advertising...
Your CTR is too low which has a big improvement opportunity as your traffic is targeted enough Basically you can improve your CTR by playing around with your ads setting/placement Suggest to use at least one "images only ads", try either skycrapper or leaderboard with "images only" ads, it works great on game site
Talking about google adsense earning, уou will cоmе tо understand that google adsense earning аrе no longer аs easy аѕ it uѕе tо be bеÑauÑ•e it dоеs nоt accept blogsite aÑ• a means of making thе google adsense business bеcauѕе оf this, you will take note that formerly, google adsense Ñоmеs thаt easy but nоw the reverse Ñ–Ñ• thе case.
I'm afraid the placement isn't really something I can change, but perhaps you're right with changing my skyscraper to being image only. I'll see if that helps.
Yeep it seems that your Click Trough Rate is very low which directly affect to you earning . As you want high CTR go through Google Heat map and change advertisement placement according to it. And if you will having high CTR then your earning will automatically goes high.
The issue is that my advertising placements can't be changed due to the nature of the website - the way in which the content is displayed directly effects it. http://spriters-resource.com/ I've put the two ads in that I feel are acceptable and non-intrusive to the content - the most important thing for me is that visitors become repeat visitors. It makes the site active - it is entirely community driven.
It's necessary to change your placement because if you not going to change placement of ads then CTR will be low and your earning will be not gets hike.
Your ads are way too much out of the way, that's not good. You could do another ad placement for much better CTR, even though your site is not ideal for adsense earnings, because the audience is too technical and the content is not text based, so the ad targeting will be poor or moderate at best.. Still you can have an ad placement which will not be intrusive but still will generate a better CTR than now (that isn't difficult at all) Perhaps you could open a new thread in adsense ad placement / review section to ask for specific advise on that, then paste the url of this new thread here and we'll be able to give some advise.
Hey man, Should I tell you something? Dont worry about CTR and all that at this stage. You have a whopping traffic. That traffic will account for any low in CTR. Beside with such a huge site, you need not to depend upon AdSense. With Alexa bellow 80,000 all you need to do is keep a small banner ( horizontal) in the page and wait for a month. To tell you what, my CTR in the first 20 days was .07%. Imagine? So to understand better, divide number of Ads being clicked with Unique visitors. That will give you an understanding of what is conversion rate! You will find that is above 1%. For some niche specific blogs it is 1%-3%. Because they use minimum Ad Units and generally bounce rate is high. All that should matter to you is whether you are earning more than what you could earn by selling adspace in Buy sell ads. Thats all.
your CTR is too low, i think if you can improve your CTR with maximize your adsense placement . .you will get more money
Thanks, this has made me feel a bit better about this. I'm now going to independently sell ads - I agree that getting a displayed CTR of 1% would close to impossible, never mind higher.
