Its used to be however you see some clowns running aorund here trying to sell 50 blog comments for $99 its rediculous...... they are only slightly usefull. A balanced SEO plan is the key.
it is still useful but only if you can find some good quality blogs with low amount of comments. there are some tools that do auto blog commenting on blogs that have already hundreds of comments which dont help in any way
