Is it possible that in 5 years everyone would go to a better site and nobody will go myspace anymore? Or do you think myspace would be going for a long long time?
I think it will lose some visitors, but not a lot. Something new will pop up but I doubt it will get up to the level that MySpace would still be up at.
MySpace is still growing at an insane rate but in years to come they'll need to add new stuff. Already falling behind and can't live on old merits forever.
Rupert Murdoch (the owner of Fox News) bought MySpace.com for millions and their programmers have been ironing out bugs ever since. It just depends on whether or not they will continue to innovate and add new features. People said the same thing about EBay, yet here they are today.
It really depends on if (or more likely when) something better comes along and everyone knows about that better site. Though I am not sure when something better comes that would be the death of myspace...it may hang on for a while. It's not like myspace killed off friendster (just mortally wound it)
It will die off, Teenagers (Myself included) are fickle people. We we all move on to the next big thing. Myspace will be a thing of the past in a few years with reports of users spending less and less time on the site.
If they dont get the spam and fake profiles under control, it's going to die. It's quickly becoming a spammers paradise.
I can't see Myspace falling by the wayside as spectacularly as Faceparty at any time in the near future. I'll agree that it needs to innovate if it is to remain close to the top of the social networking market.
I can't see it dying anytime soon. They do need to think about how they can make the site better but I think they will be fine. Remember more people are joining the internet every day and for every person that moves away someone else will be signing up.
They would have to make a series of large mistakes to fall behind enough to die. Fickle people or not, you can cut MySpace in half and cut that half in half and cut that half in half... and it will still be Gargantuan.
myspace wont die, fox has millions of dollars to spend to make it good and even better than any other social network. its not a place for just teenagers anymore, they got jobs, movies, and other great things that are bieng added so going down isnt even a question.
myspace is just for teenagers?? rubbish 130,000,000 users! thats like saying will everyone get bored of this site in a few years... no, the people on myspace make the content for each other.
