PayPal Chargeback

    Hi,

I made my first (for now) mistake in online business. Till now I was very prudent, but a month ago I was scammed. And not once, but it looks twice from the same person.

I hired a freelancer to help me build my Blog and monetize it with adsense (he has high reputation on the page where I hired him - he even worked for a friend of mine with no problems at all).

For two weeks it was going ok. Revenue was coming, so I paid him for his work. But after few days I had my adsense acc. banned. I asked the freelancer to refund me and he said no problem. I was waiting and waiting and nothing happend. I opened a dispute on paypal. Next day he contacted me to resolve the problem in a friendly way, but first I need to close the dispute as he has his paypal acc. frozen, because of the dispute I opened and he cannot pay me. So I closed it.

Till now still I did not recive my money. He has every day a new excuse. I cannot open another dispute as I already closed it. I wrote to paypal and they told me to resolve the problem with the seller... They cannot help me as I had close the dispute.

So, can I do something? Maybe a chargeback could help me? Or I should forget about my money and take it as a lesson in life? :(

    Regards.

first, did you pay by credit card through paypal. if you have paid by credit card, via paypal only then you can dispute the charge with your bank.
dont forget that paypal levies extra $10 chargeback fee.

Yeah, I paid by credit card through paypal.

So, I have to login to my bank acc. backend and make a chargeback, if I understand it right? As my bank has an online application, similar to paypal, where I can make payments, etc.

    Thank you.

i have never heard before that you cant open a case with the same one you have closed before. Does paypal make sure of this?

Once you've closed a dispute, it's closed permanently.

I hope it is not a huge amount because from what you are telling me there is not much that you can do.

@BoCe; I cannot...I tried and I even wrote to them. It is not possible.

@serena85; we are talking of $300. Not big, but neither is not a small amount to ignore...

So, I should try chargeback or not? The $10 chargeback fee is taken either the issue is resolved or is not?

I've yet to be in a situation where I need to file a charge-back, but doesn't doing so pretty much mean the end of your PayPal account?

So I'd way up both sides. If it's small enough for you to write it off, do that; If not, file a charge-back.

So, was it the fault of Freelancer that your Adsense got banned?

Yes. He was getting me around 1000 unique visits per day, 99% from Asia traffic. So my page was making around $20/day in two weeks from the establishment.

I had my Adsense for 4 years, making around $5/day without any problems. He manage to get it banned in two weeks. I don't believe in coincidences ...

Beside this, he never said anything in his defense ... he just said that I have all the rights to issue a refund from him. I have all evidences (chat logs, PM from freelancer page, etc.). I already sent them to PayPal, but as soon as I closed the case, they lift up their hands and no help from them anymore ...

He contacted me today offering a new adsense account or to try a different way to monetize the page. I said that I just want my money back and he was gone from chat... Shit he is driving me crazy. I wrote to paypal about chargeback, but I am hopeless...

Just do a chargeback with your bank... no big deal. Take the $10 hit from paypal and keep the $290. $10 is a very cheap cost to learn this lesson. You could sue this guy you know... unless you signed some kind of no lawsuit deal with him, but even arbitration can legally force him to pay... you live in USA right?

@SerjSagan; I live in Europe and we did not sign any contract.

One problem is that I made the payment in two steps and two different ways:
    $200 through paypal
    $100 through freelancer webpage

So, I would need to make two chargebacks? If I get back $200 is enough for me... I dont want to corrupt my PayPal or bank account because of this idiot...

My friend cannot reach him anymore, too. But he at least got his investment covered before he got his adsense banned, too.

So, I can forget about the money, right?

On his freelancer's about page I am getting this messagge after I reported him: Error: User is not found or suspended

At least he will not harm in future someone else on this page... a little satisfactin, even if I dont get my money back.
