hello friends I have a website that is on 7th position on Google.com But I want to get in top five position I am doing all methods(directory submission,Social Bookmarking, Article Submission,aForum Posting ) to increasing its rank. But getting no improvement. what should I do to get in top five position. Thanks in Advance.
hi there, as you may know the higher you are, the more fierce the competition. there is no easy way to move even just a single place in the serp's in your position. the number of back links is a big factor, however you may be outdone by another website because it has a certain quality back link that the search engine gives a lot of weight to. the only thing you can do is continue in your current efforts including promotion in order to get more quality back links.
if your regular techniques are not giving you any progress, then you should try something else,. Try to get links from high authority websites with in your niche.
@Jaredrasc You are on 7th position that is a very good position. Reaching first page in search is a big thing. Secondly the keywords are also very important. If you are trying to do SEO for a keyword which have high competition, the more time it will take to improve your position. Also make sure you have done on page optimization's and your website is crawler friendly, you have original content, no data duplication on your website ( if there is data duplication then let the crawler know it by robot.txt ) Also keep site map so that all pages get indexed. And continue doing what you are doing now for SEO and some day you will get results.
Have you had a look at the inbound links for the sites that are in the top 5 positions. This may give you some great linking opportunities.

try to get backlinks from higher PR sites as well - and consider doing article marketing (many people offering this service - submitting 100-500 articles on the topic of your site with a link) - article marketing still works to some extent, esp when combined with other link building methods.

Do follow commentings, wiki postings, and contextual backlinks. All these are loved by google and brings you more link juice. The amount, if you decided on doing the SEO by yourself, do it as much as you can. If you can't stand all the work, just outsource the work.
yea, keep doing what you are doing, and do it consistently and you will get there. I am also in the same position as you, and at times it gets discouraging, but we just have to keep pressing on

i think first you choose low level keyword and start link building these keyword and 1 or 2 month youe site first 3 and next step choose medium competition keyword and slow and slow you done this keyword and google see your site is more specil
