I want to let you guys in on a little SEO secret. If you have more pages, you'll get more traffic and your website will also appear higher in the search results. A few years ago I had a couple of content websites. One had about 500 pages and the other had about 350. Each one generated 1,000 or more uniques per month. Not the most impressive stats but it's pretty good for FREE targeted traffic. If I paid 20 cents a click that traffic would cost about $600.
First of all it's logical that when you have more pages and promoting more pages you will get more traffic and increase page rank but your comparison is not correct, you need to see what authority rank each website is getting, I have a website with fewer pages and PR3 that is ranking higher in the results page than my PR5 blog that have thousands of pages. simply because it has a 81/100 authority ranking but the blog still on 74/100 authority ranking
Is the content on your blog unique? If not, that's your problem. All the pages on my sites had unique content, titles and meta tags.
the above scenrio was before google panda., now its more important to have user oriented pages (informative pages).., even u can rank well if u have really fresh and user informative content.., in google panda update many big guns got affected.., so be aware before posting contents..,
I'm not saying that you're going to rank more highly for the best keywords. I'm just saying that you'll pick up more "tidbits" of traffiic. It also seems to help you appear higher in the search results for the 2 or 3 keywords you're focusing on.
