How do you protect your inbox from spam?

A simple enough question really - if you have an email client such as Outlook Express, what do you do in regards to any spam you recieve and how do you deal with it? Is it dealt with at the server end by the host? Have you got a plugin that allows you to filter or bounce back unwanted emails? How do you solve the ever increasing issue of email spam?

Much of my spam comes to the domain itself, not even to an actual account. So for instance , names that do not actually exist. I started to send all unrouted mail to the trash 'blackhole' I think it's called on the server end, it's helped out ALOT!

I still get spam, however nowhere near what I used to get.

Becareful which sites you give your email to and where your email is displayed.

I've had my main email for 4 years and I never get spam.

I use SpamAssassin on my mail server and Pegasus Mail as my email client which has very powerful mail filtering and spam filtering abilities. Using the two methods combined virtually all spam is filtered out. The only more effective method I could think of would be to hire a real assassin to hunt down spammers and take care of the problem at the source.

Spam Assassin + Outlooks built in filter + Pandasoft filter = still a few spams get through every day but it cut it down about 90%

    I receive 4-600 PER Day.
I use Spam assassin, blacklist on my server, and outlook filters.
But I found an awesome solution for what gets through that.

    SpamBayes
    http://spambayes.sourceforge.net/

I have found it 99.9 accurate with no false positives.
    Very easy to set up.
Point it to your junk file and say this is spam, point to a mail box free of spam and say this is ham.
Anything it is unsure of will be put in suspected junk, then you move to junk or in and it learns what you call spam.

Read more on the site, I highly recommend
(Doesn't work with OE only outlook)
