Hey, I've always worked within internet marketing selling various products from SEO to PPC and so on. I recently decided I've had enough of working for companies and I've been looking at starting up my own. I've aquired a couple of customers and I am currently being trained up by a friend on how to SEO. Currently I'm working on hxxp:www.sarahspetportraits.co.uk and optimizing for 'pet portraits' is directory submissions using anchor text sufficient enough to compete with those in the top 3 of page 1 for this phrase? I'm using directorycritic.com at the moment and simply submitting to free high pr sites. She also has a forum she posts on with her site in her sig but she doesn't have the site as 'anchor' text in her signiture with the phrase if that makes sense? I've never done this before and since I've started she seems to be making progress but if theres anything obvious you guys can see I'm doing wrong please let me know. And its a pleasure to become part of digital point im sure you will be hearing more from me. Regards Joe
you need to check the PR , age and backlinks of you competition, then start building about 40-50 .EDU/GOV backlinks , then you need to create a huge list of high PR to start building Forum profiles and then you need to submit it to social bookmarks. you can also create some videos include in youtube with keywords tags this will also increase the rankings, then you have so many other options like create articles, then submit to directories, etc,etc
The most important thing now as of Google's latest algorithm update is quality over quantity. Remember that with all the SEO information you'll be learning and you'll be good!
Find dofollow blogs/sites that you can leave valuable comments on. Make sure not to spam or your backlinks will be deleted.
I am looking forward to this, as I get some useful information about that, make sure I would let you know...
+1 Facebook page links, youtube replies with your key words, Twitter tweets with keywords. Also joining forums and adding your link to signature, also make post with your keywords blended in, even write them in white so they go unseen by users but register.
You can make all kinds of different backlinks. Having your keyword on your sig on forums and doing directory submissions isn't enough. So make some relevant blog comments preferably with high PR. Write an article and manually spin it then pass them to some 30 top article directories with high alexa rank. Make a squidoo lens and hubpage... Once those are published, bookmark those links [you can use social monkee that allows 25 bookmarks to a URL each day for FREE]... then you can even make a video yourself or get a fiverr gig to make videos about pet portraits, then place it on youtube and other top video sites. Place your keyword on the title and description and a link to your site. I hope this could help you....
