Private messages problem

Hi, I was suspended to send private messages. It is because I was sending link exchange requests with the same text probably. But I´m getting answers to those and I believe I wasn´t spamming. I only contacted people who asked to be contacted and didn´t provide any clues about their niche, or the niche was relevant, etc. I skipped those who were asking for something I couldn´t deliver.

Yes, I used the same message, but there is really nothing else the message could contain - basic info, codes for the exchange.

What can I do now? Is there someone on this forum (admin?) who could unblock my account? Or do I have to create another one? How long does it take to unblock?

    Thanks, Roman

Duplicate accounts are never allowed under any circumstances. That would be the surest way to get yourself actually banned.

No, you can't... but even if you could, it doesn't change the fact that we allow one account per lifetime, per user.

To answer your question, yes... admins of course could unblock you early. But since the block was intentional, that's not going to happen.

Ok, thanks for the answers at least. I guess I´ll just have to go and find another great forum like this to be able to use the full functionality... :(

What do you mean by "we dont offer it"? As long as I´m the owner of the data I put on my profile, sent it messages, etc. I have legal rights to prohibit using them (e.g. display them on the site). I know that
but the data itself are my due to copyright law and privacy policy.

So, I´m just politely asking where to request the removal of this account or removal of all the data you store about my person (if I can´t get the actual account deleted).

Account deletion isn't something we offer. We don't claim copyright ownership of anything that user's post, only publishing rights. Which you agreed to when you signed up.
    If you do not wish to use your account, simply don't use it. {shrug}

As far as it being required by our privacy policy, I'm not sure where you are reading that, but you can find our privacy policy here: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/faq.php?faq=dp_faq#faq_privacy

True, but any rules you agree on can´t cancel the rights about your person´s protection and human rights. And as the replies in forums and private messages contain personal information (e.g. what job you have, where you live, your name, etc.) the person can forbid using them because it is everyone´s right to protect his person and his personal data.

Sorry for inexact formulations, English is not my native language... But you know what I mean.

Fairly certain someone's inability to delete their account is not a human right.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Human_rights#Substantive_Rights

I'd also say it's fairly safe to say that not preventing you from posting your own personal information is not a human right violation.

I agree that everyone should protect their personal data, but ultimately that's up to the person, not us. WE don't publish any of your personal information, only you can.

Very true, but it is human right to decide whom I want to give me personal info and whom to not. I gave them to you when I sign up and accepted the terms, but now I want them deleted from you system, database, etc. And that is my right, as it is yours to sign up for e.g. an email service and get it deleted when you decide to do so. Or would you say it would be correct and legal if Gmail kept all your emails in their database if you wanted them to delete it or sent a legal complaint?

Sure, those were posted with my free will. But now I want them deleted. And you are preventing me to do that. You have given the option to create an account, but you haven´t given to delete one with all the data you store about users. It is like signing up a contract without posibility to terminate it. Do you think that is ok? Do you think that if you get employed the employer should have the right to forbid you to leave and to hold you in their company for the rest of your life?

I agree I published them and by that I gave you the permission to store them in YOUR system. But again, I don´t want them in your system anymore.

Hope you don´t take this personally :)

Huh? That wasn't a question, and certainly not the "main" question.
