Hey guys, I am new to this forum. Amazing resource for anything web related, I think. I was just wondering if anyone has heard of Piwik? I have used it for a couple years now and love it. I havent seen much reference to it at all in this forum. I wanted to know what you think about the differences between them? I have used both GA and Piwik for a couple years, so I have some experience dealing with both, and I have to say I love Piwik.
What is Piwik? I never heard this before. What do you think about Piwik VS GA? Which one more comfortable and useful?
Piwik is an open-source alternative to GA that installs on your own server. I have not seen it mentioned here before, I guess it isnt that well known. I personally think that Piwik is more comfortable to use.
Piwik is more accurate in my opinion, is also has plugins that you can install for added functionality. It does have real time analytics.
i think its a new one..havent heard it before but as i checked it out it seems interesting and i would like to give it a try
I have never heard about Piwik before. Infect i heard about getclicky, and also make account there. But personally i think that Google analytics is the best. Stat counter is also a very good tool but you have to pay for that. So i think Google Analytics is best as it is free of cost also.
someone mentioned on another thread that GA has been reporting and Piwik is better for live stats. I think using GA for reporting and Piwik for live stats is a good compromise. Who says you have to use only one analytics software. The more the merrier.
i have not used piwik before. personally i use analytics. but i will use piwik tonight to see how good it work.. thanks for information of piwik..
I am surprised that a lot of people dont know about it. It is very powerful and poplar, at least in my circle of friends.
I think you are right. Data analysis is GA's forte. I use Piwik more for daily monitoring and quick stats. Nothing in depth.
I've heard of Piwik, but I've heard of issues hosting it on some web hosting companies. Do you really have to get Piwik specialized hosting for it to work as good as Google Analytics?
I agree with Josh, could anyone already using Piwik talk about hosting needs & usage¿? I mean how many ram/cpu and such does it need to avoid struggling the server
I have hosting with 10gb bandwidth and I never hit 5% using piwik, my website, WHMCS, and a project manager. I cant speak to CPU/RAM usage. I am on a shared plan and assume that my host does not give me that much resources.
