Web 2.0 is user generated and promoted content. Web 1.0 is just static pages with information while 2.0 is already more dynamic where people create the content themselves. Web 3.0 term is evolving, but it is still dificcult to define :)

Link wheel is a group of Web2.0 properties directing to your website by forming a loop or a wheel. Basically a link wheel is constructed to increase your Return on Investment by improving your search engine rankings. The link wheel may have any number of Web 2.0 properties but at least 5-7 properties are necessary to create an effective link wheel which looks natural to search engines like Google.

Web 2.0 properties are nothing but a website which is created on a Web 2.0 platform. Web 2.0 platforms like blogger.com, facebook.com, myspace.com, squidoo.com etc allow us to create Web 2.0 properties. So we simply create Web 2.0 properties with unique content to get indexed by search engines like Google. Web 2.0 properties are the most happening places on the web and the spiders keep pinging each and every site. So there is a chance of getting indexed sooner if we use Web 2.0 properties.

Later people started thinking of Web 2.0 as the programming tools used to create the Web pages that were considered "cutting edge Web 2.0". This included AJAX and SOAP and other XML and JavaScript applications that allowed the readers to actually interact with the Web pages more like you would with an application on your desktop.

The term Web 2.0 is associated with web applications that facilitate participatory information sharing, interoperability, user-centered design, and collaboration on the World Wide Web. A Web 2.0 site allows users to interact and collaborate with each other in a social media dialogue as creators (prosumers) of user-generated content in a virtual community, in contrast to websites where users (consumers) are limited to the passive viewing of content that was created for them. Examples of Web 2.0 include social networking sites, blogs, wikis, video sharing sites, hosted services, web applications, mashups and folksonomies.

Web 2.0 is the term given to describe a second generation of the World Wide Web that is focused on the ability for people to collaborate and share information online. Web 2.0 basically refers to the transition from static HTML Web pages to a more dynamic Web that is more organized and is based on serving Web applications to users. Other improved functionality of Web 2.0 includes open communication with an emphasis on Web-based communities of users, and more open sharing of information. Over time Web 2.0 has been used more as a marketing term than a computer-science-based term. Blogs, wikis, and Web services are all seen as components of Web 2.0.

Web 2.0 was previously used as a synonym for Semantic Web, but while the two are similar, they do not share precisely the same meaning.

Depending on who you talk to the answer is either yes or no. Many of the sites I’ve visited that talk about link wheels say that their good for a short boost in traffic and rankings, but in the long term your site will be penalized or worse, banned from big search engines such as Google. Others argue that this is basically duplicate content and that those who use link wheels are essentially creating spam on the internet that deceives visitors. link_wheel.jpg

Google isn't stupid. Articles and web2 link wheels are ok for getting an initial bit of link juice for a website, but if you want to rank in Google for a comppetitive niche/keyword such as supplements, dating, etc, you need to have high quality content that website owners will want to link to.

Sometimes I get frustrated at how many people would apparently put more work into link building than actually creating worthwhile content.

PS - If you insist on making a link wheel, there are THOUSANDS of web2 sites out there where users can generate content, with backlinks etc. Using only the obvious ones such as Squidoo and Hubpages is like flagging yourself for Google.
