Today I came to know that Google also has an article directory coming first among article directories on the Alexa ranking; I realise, people don't usually talk about it because it's a nofollow, but I think with that kind of Alexa ranking, one can still gain exposure there even if it doesn't help to raise your PR. knol.google.com. Be happy.
I've used Google Knol in the past and you actually reminded me that I should be using it more often! I know SEnuke at one point was using Knol as part of their article directory submissions for getting backlinks. I just checked an old page on Knol and all backlinks are DoFollow. Looks like I'll be putting this on my current list of best backlink sites
Really it has a good potentiality of doing something good in marketing sites. It is a PR7 site and popular. Thank you very much for your thread, because it will aware many people about it.
Google Knol is an article directory platform where you can publish your articles and get tons of free PR7 backlinks. I use Ultra Spinnable Articles to spin content and then I publish these articles onto Google Knol... This equals tons of free PR7 links and higher rankings for my websites
Google Knol is actually more like web hubs such as Squidoo and Hubpages that allow you to publish a web page covering a single subject. But it does have some wiki elements. For example, you can open up your Google Knol to a team of people for collaboration or even open it up to the public at large. This means you don't have to author your Knol by yourself. You can be part of a team.
My experiment with knol is hopeless. The same article published in hub pages performs well ( No of views,SERP position ) than knol article page. And the links are nofollow also. But nothing wrong to try it out
