Increase your PageRank by updating your website?

    Hi guys,

Google likes it when you update your site with new, fresh and original content, and apparently increases your Page Rank. What I wanted to know is, how often and how consistent most one be to achieve results?

What defines an update? A new page with a 700 word article? A new button added to the menu?

Can anyone provide me with a constructive opinion on site updates and how this affects page rank?
    Cheers

A very good question, it's my own question too. I don't know how much is my answer valid. But somewhere i read that having new article once a week, and ping it to google, means that you have an active website.

Google wont ever tell us exactly what they look for in terms of PR and rankings, but its safe to say that weekly updated will reflect a site that does receive fresh content regularly and thus be in favour with Google. I always try for weekly updates and if possible, try and get a backlink from elsewhere to the new content

I'm pretty sure they mean placing new articles on your site. I think articles 300 words and up are a good size. As previously suggested, be sure to ping Google when you update your site so they will send Googlebot over. :)

Page Rank is a function of backlinks it has nothing to do with content.

Google update after month to month, then found the fresh content in your database then decide the PR.

Make a blog commenting meaning you need to build relationship to other bloggers so that they will help you to get more links from them.

I am not sure about pagerank but one thing I found out is that with more contents you get more traffic.

I think content and how often you update your site's content has everything to do with page rank. An update would be a new article/post and it doesn't have to be overly long. A 300 word article that is both informative and entertaining once or twice a week will certainly make both the search engines and your readers happy.

Google now is really genius. The best way to increase you page rank is link building. Google loves backlinks from web2.0 site,..so dont acquire backlink, YOU NEED TO CREATE BACKLINK. That's the better way..

Google Page rank is based on back links. Back links are Links pointing to your website from another website.

This is true. The high PR sites you need to be building links to need to be related to your website's niche as Google looks into that. Building quality links are important as they not only help you boost your page rank, they help bring traffic to your site too. We recently published an audio interview on building backlinks that can give you more insight on link building.

Hope that helps. Have a good day!
