What do you recommend I do, how my own blog on my own hosting OR use a host like blogger? someone said that blogger blogs get picked up better by Google. Thanks, pr0xy.
This is a FAQ. If you host your own blog, you have complete control over mods, themes, etc. The blog is also easier to promote as directories typically do not permit subdomain sites without paying a fee.
Personally, I don't like leaving my content in the hands of someone else and host my own. I have seen a few recommendations to do both - post a snippet of your articles on blogger linking to your own site with the full post. This will assist in your site getting spidered by the Search engines. Hosting your own site will always allow you to skin it and add whatever plugins that you want. But, if you can accept what blogger offers and don't want to set up and maintain your own site it is a viable alternative - I guess the thousands of bloggers there already wouldn't be if it wasn't convenient for them.
I think the script used on blogger blogs is called "Blogger Script". You can't download the script,you could only host the blogs on your own server.
oh ok, so does that mean that u can backup the DB, when u host on your own server, and get your own domain?
though blogger can be on your own servers but i would strongly recommend you to get a domain name and use WordPress to create a blog! This will make it very easy for you to make changes of your own, easy to promote, plugins for different things are availble for free for WP;
I prefer to host my blog myself. You can also try pinging if it's just about getting picked by search engines. Bye
Don't have just one blog, but Wordpress is the way to go However it is vital to mention that at least currently, there is a major seo advantage having a hosted blog on Wordpress.com You can't effectively use a Wordpress.com blog for business purposes (no advertising and no affiliate links), but you can always have links at the end of a personal post relating to your business blog. For more details on the SEO advantage I recently posted about it on my blog Wordpress.com Linking Structure
