    Again, quality backlinks are needed. By quality, if you run a tech website and start backlinking on some non-tech related websites - you are wasting your time.

    If you start backlinking on a notorious forum where all the other backlink people abuse, guess what - your pagerank is going to suffer!

    Google Panda is constantly changing and people still think 3 years ago when backlinks were the big thing.. Google Panda being changed fixed people cheating with automatic backlink generation!
