    I don't think there is one best way to promote your site. It is a combination of things like SEO, backlinking and marketing through social media sites. It can't be just one strategy alone. The best way would be to work on all three to rigorously promote your site.

    Best way? Make your site more interesting among others. But doing this requires quality effort and time. Online marketing, SEO, etc. must be done if you want to have better results.

    While paid advertising can bring you traffic, I would suggest you focus on getting organic traffic first especially if you are a newbie and your site has not yet made a sale. Some people have sunk in considerable amounts in PPC and other paid forms of traffic only to be burned in the end.
