Many a times, have heard that getting links from .info sites are not so good for a site....... Is it true and why so.......??
Because some (not all) .info sites are low quality websites. Better focus on getting links from .EDU and .GOV sites.
I've played around using .com and .info for autoblogs, the .info was never indexed no matter what I did even though theyre both crap
Thanks kylelawrence and tonyran !! But want to ask which .info sites are low quality sites because have seen many .info sites which have got good pr, 2 or 3 or might be more than that...... So i don't think that getting links from those sites are harmful....... So is it that bookmarking into .info sites are less valuable......!!
There's no difference between .info and .com domain, seo-wise. There IS between these and .edu & .gov. Fight for backlinks from .edu and .gov, but don't dismiss .info just because it's .info. Always look for in-site seo markings and base your decision strictly on them.
That's a big N-O. The actual domain extension plays no role in SEO/Organic Rankings. The only time it would play a role is for geographical searches, this means *.co.uk is obviously going to be related to the UK while the *.com would be more broad "unless" you set your geographical target in Google Webmaster Central. Remember, beyond geographical targeting the domain extension plays no role. You don't have to take just my word: http://www.seomoz.org/blog/google-vs-bing-correlation-analysis-of-ranking-elements
Agreed, premierwebstrategies. The reason that people get excited over .edu links is that in most cases university sites have a higher domain authority...Thats not because of their TLD... but because Universities tend to be large, well linked to and respected sites.... The .edu has nothing to do with it.
You should try it for yourself. And I'm not saying it just to argue with you, I tested it in many ways over the last couple of years and it is a working element of every seo strategy I implement. You guys actually miss a lot by not cunduct your own experiments. They are a 'must', unless information about something comes straight from Google's help pages (not from M. Cutts' loose mouth*). * not trying to offend Matt in any way. It's just a lot of what he's saying is not actually applied by Google in a way he's saying it.
Domain extension doesn't not matter and all links should be worth some value as long as these are from related and authority websites.
Thanks all of you.....!! Agreed, premierwebstrategies, sorror...!! I had been doing experiment regarding .info sites, & i really can tell you that few of them really works. The thing is just to know whether its really relevant to your niche as well as what text you are hyperlinking. Cheers!!
These days Google is rewarding websites which has natural looking backlink profile. What is that? It means your backlink profile should not contain only .com tlds or only Dofollow links. But it should be natural mix of all kind of relevant backlinks. And by 'natural' , my suggestion would be to get backlinks from various tlds including .info as well. May the number should not be too high but at the same time it should not be zero either. I hope you got the idea.
Check website details before submitting like PR, traffic and domain authority. By this you will know which one is good in quality.
