In my country you gotta park your car at the side of the road to make a phone call, I accept it, otherwise people get distracted when they have to do 2 things at the same time...

They pull people in the New York metro area for cell phone use without a hands-free device all the time. Even my mom got a ticket.

From what I read, using a hands-free device does not significantly reduce the risk of accident (since you're still distracted).

The show Mythbusters proved that using cell phone while driving could be very dangerous. But they were testing by asking questions on the cell phone that would make you think (like riddles, math questions, etc.).

If you are doing casual conversation, how is that different from talking to someone sitting in the passenger seat... or for that matter, listening to music while driving? I personally think it's safe as long as you use a hands-free device.

I was going to mention that one :p

but then I thought I might be misleading in that I just use a disposable to clean up the spots I missed w/ the electric - never a full shave in the car for me. though you could use the cup holders for the shaving cream can!!! :D

I use mine, but for long calls use a hands free device. I do think it makes driving a little more dangerous, but not as much as my blackberry. :)

I usually use hands-free. If my hands-free is not with me, I will use the speaker feature of the mobile phone.

Yeah, I just have bluetooth and I use it everyday while driving to school and back.

It's quite useful, and it's not as dangerous as holding your phone in one hand and other hand on the wheel.

hi mike88, just curious.. why do u prefer to use speakerphone as compared to handsfree or bluetooth? personally, i prefer using handsfree or bluetooth as there are some conversations that i just can't communicate through speakerphone with passengers inside the vehicle. hee.. =)

I believe that using a celfone while driving, regardless of using hands free head sets, increase the risk of accidents. That is why some countries prohibit it.

It's illegal to be on your mobile whilst driving here in Australia.
