Hello! I have a very large website that contains hundreds of thousands of pages. It's quite similar to Pricegrabber, Ciao, etc. My traffic is based on the long tail, so I'm not well positioned for any particular keyword at all. I just want to increase the "tail", make it longer, so that more keywords lead to my website. What's the best link building strategy? I'm thinking about buying some high PR links at good and relevant websites, with high quantity of backlinks, etc. And then, said links would be directed to the "main categories" of the website, and not necessarily the main page. Is this right? What about those "packages" that are sold at Link Adage or Text Link Ads? Is it worth to buy a PR6-7 link (considering it's relevant) from them? I know some people say buying links can be dangerous, but as I understand, if that was true, then everybody would buy links to damage their rivals. As I said, I don't want to get traffic from any particular keyword, but increasing the number of keywords that give me traffic from searches. Thanks in advance!
Manually building links to your site will be more effective than automation. Try to expose your site by using social media like Facebook and Twitter, it will provide you good traffic and popularity of the website.
I just want to increase the traffic from search engines. I'm doing things regarding social media, but now I only want to improve long tail searches. Now, would buying "strong" links improve that, the long tail? What about packages and PR>=5 ads offered by Link Adage or Text Link Ads? My budget is low-mid XXX euros (almost 40% more in USD) per month, so I can buy several PR6 and/or 7 links at relevant websites. Thanks!
Personally i dont suggest to buy all link from those link agent site, it is fine to buy only some of them, and you can actully visit DP BST link sale section http://forums.digitalpoint.com/forumdisplay.php?f=58 to get the link. There are many link available, $XXX per month if good enough for you to get PR7 or PR8 link. By the way, you gotta check the link carefully since there are quite many scammer.
I would definitely recommend considering your internal link strategy as well as external. You should make sure internal link texts contain the various keywords that you want to target on your pages.
Since your keywords dives further into you're sub-categorized pages within your site, I would take couple steps back to make sure your long-tails suits appropriately to its page. (using Google's suggestions can help).. Also, partaking in some competitive reconnaissance wouldn't help either. g.l
OK, thanks for all the replies. So, the conclusion is that in order to increase the traffic from the long tail, buying [proper] links is a good tool. Also optimizing the link structure (that's done). However, lifeplayer recommended not to buy links from Link Adage, Text link Ads and similar, but doing that using, among others, Digital Point forums. The problem is that, what if it's a scam? I mean, if I use "brokers"/"agents" and a user tries to scam me, then that user will have to respond to the agent for its behavior. However, what about the forums? Any recommendations about buying links this way? Thanks again!
I think you need to develop some trust with the buyer on the forum. Look at the websites and do your research like checking that the PR is valid, quality of the content on the site, look at wayback machine to check if the site has changed much over the years. Problem with places like Text Link Ads is that they take relatively high commission.
I would not go for buying text links instead will pay to get backlinks which will eventually increase the SERP for those "Long tails" in "Long term". One liner but serious one.
What's the difference? I mean, supposing I know how to buy links... You don't offer a "pay to get links" service, uh? And now, regarding the main topic here, let's suppose I buy some serious heavy links and direct them to my website... How long until I notice the effects? I mean, yes, I know, this depends on a lot of things, but, are we talking about hours/days/weeks/months? Thanks to everybody!
#1 , No, I do not offer such service. #2. Getting a text paid link from a "Heavy" site will boost your traffic for sure, but since how long you are willing to pay for those "heavy" link ? The day you stop paying for them, they will remove your heavy link and your site is back to the place where it was. #3. Instead of #2,if you buy some good backlinks (I swear i am not in that business), You pays ones and get links until those sites from where you got the link (assuming you will get a good deal, not spammy one) are live. These links will be from various sites, authorities non-authorities etc so mixxing them all up overall your site will get a good weight, resulting good position for those long tail keyword. Take example of DP, Whenever we search for some long tail word related to IM, DP comes on first page (Most of the time). why ? I will not interfere in the 2nd part of your question.
Not say totally not buying link from those link selling site, just dont buy all your link over there. That's always a risk when dealing with someone online without knowing them, therefore i suggest you review their itrade if you deal at DP, at least you have idea how good/bad the reputation of the member. Deal with those high itrade member is more safe generally especially when it involve big amount. At the same time, you shall consider to use escrow too instead of direct pay via paypal
First of all, I'm sorry for thinking you were trying to sell me your services. Regarding your idea, I understand you're referring to "lifetime" links. This is, I pay once, and the website puts my link until the Universe ends. However, who guarantees me that they aren't going to delete my link the next day I pay? I mean, if I buy a "normal" link, one that requires me to renew it, then the seller MUST preserve the link. Otherwise, I won't pay for it. However, if I pay for a "lifetime" link, I must trust the website for years. In addition, I think this must be considered: if I buy some heavy links for, let's say, six months, I will achieve an increase in traffic, by humans and bots. This implies more visibility, and more potential to get fixed and non-paid links. I mean, let's suppose my website has 1000 visits a day, and that this traffic implies 10 natural links per month, by people interested in my contents, and by third party websites that index my contents. If I put some heavy links and multiply my traffic by 10, then I will get in a month as many links as a in an entire year. Almost. If I maintain the paid links for six months, then in that period I will have as much links as the ones I would have got in a period of various years. Of course, this is just en example. I am interested on reading opinions about the above ideas. And one last question. When buying heavy links as described, how long would it take to see the effects? Is it a matter of days/weeks/months?
I want to increase my traffic as well. Facebook and twitter have been good and I am continually trying to reach more people through social networks.
SEO is the best and natural way of link building...you can also use social networks like facebook, twitter etc.... electronics4india.blogspot
If your blog is based on Wordpress you can try All in one seo pack which will significantly increase your rankings and traffic. And it like just setup and forget system.
Last two replies didn't answer my questions. In fact, they could have been used in 90% of topics in this forum, and they would make sense. They are just generic replies. My main question is this: When buying heavy links as described, how long would it take to see the effects? Is it a matter of days/weeks/months? Thanks in advance.
When buying these big links it depends if your website can handle them. It depends on the speed, quality and quantity of your link building to date. If the answer is nothing, i wouldn't start with these big links first. You are just drawing attention to yourself unnecessarily. I would recommend doing some online pr and distributing news online to gain some real natural links from news sites and some directories first. You want to make your link building look as natural as possible. If you were to go straight into the big links then you could see increases immediately but as i have seen with other sites you could land in the sandbox...nobody likes the sandbox. Another issue i would look at is your onsite copy, sites similar to the one you have described for yourself were hit heavily because the majority of their content was coming in from feeds rather than being unique content. I think you really need to develop a strategy for SEO and the keywords you want to target. Targeting your top level category can often help the more internal pages with long tail keywords. For example, Automotive site - Cars category - 4x4s - red/blue/black/green 4x4 cars - targeting the '4x4s' will have positive effects on the lower 'colour' pages. I hope that analogy makes sense...and it helps you at least make a start on link building.
