Accused pastor admits he bought meth

The Rev. Ted Haggard admitted Friday he bought methamphetamine and received a massage from a gay prostitute who claims he was paid for drug-fueled trysts by the former head of the National Association of Evangelicals.

Mike Jones, the 49-year-old Denver man who raised the allegations this week, quickly refuted Haggard’s denial.

Shortly after Haggard told reporters outside his home, "I bought it for myself but never used it. I was tempted, but I never used it,” Jones told MSNBC-TV’s Rita Cosby that Haggard snorted meth in front of him about once a month for two years.

Haggard said he received a massage from Jones after being referred to him by a Denver hotel, but Jones told MSNBC, “He always came to my place.”

Haggard, 50, said he never had sex with Jones. On Friday, as he was leaving his home with his wife and three of his five children, he said he bought the meth because he was curious.

Haggard stepped down as president of the 30 million-member association Thursday and also gave up leadership of his 14,000-member New Life Church pending the investigation into allegations he had sex with Jones over the past three years.

"It is important for you to know that he confessed to the overseers that some of the accusations against him are true,” Ross Parsley, the acting senior pastor at New Life Church stated in an e-mail to church members.

What is it with all these gay republicans and priests?

How do you know a priest or a republican is gay? He voices the loudest objections against gay marriage. :D

You must be homophobic or something eh?For you to bash this Ted Haggerty guy for being gay (or so the accuation implies in the media) is lame.

I don't believe in the gay agenda, But I wouldn't bash someone over it. You liberals are such damned hypocrates.

I'm a republican, but I also have no religious affiliation. It really does look bad for religious people and republicans when they stand up shouting about homosexuals and drugs and whatever else, meanwhile they're gay and drug addicts. Seems this happens a lot.

But, it's going to take a hell of a lot more than homosexual and hypocritical priests and republicans to force me to vote for the left. Matter of fact, I would just not vote. The current democrats make me feel ill. I'm not saying I would never vote for a dem, but certainly not the loons that are running at this point in time.

Just anti-Christian. He's been quiet for a number of months, but prior to that, every other post created was either bashing "ignorant" Americans or Chrisitians.

He even once created a post seeking sympathy for a terrorist (Jose Padilla), but never a bad post about terrorists. The only bad word he ever said about terrorists was:

they are pieces of shit and assholes after repeated attempts under duress.

Just so you know who you are dealing with. If Haggard were an Imam at a Mosque in Boston and was found to be hiding nuclear weapons in his mosque, you wouldn't hear a peep out of gworld ;)

I don't think this is a case of picking on a homosexual or being homophobic - it's a matter of giving the good reverend an accurate label - hypocrite!

Whether he's gay, straight, left, right, or anything else doesn't really matter - he's a flaming liar and hypocrite ... too bad it's not a "jailable" offense - he could get all sorts of 'massages' while tending to the prison flock.

You really need to grow up and stop making posts that are irrelivant GTech.

I've been looking at a lot of your replys and they make no sense at all.

This is a thread about a homosexual drug fueled idiot that got rumbled, but most threads in ths P&R seem to get trashed by people going off topic. :(

Never heard of him before today. Don't really care one way or the other, but I thought it was important to point certain bits of reality out. Nothing to be ashamed of, I'm sure. ;)

What I get a kick out of are the "religious right" bashers... Screaming about people like Fawell, Robertson, etc... I don't give a crap about these guys, could care less what they say, and do not follow them. My religion is not theirs, and likely is no one else's for that matter... My morality is founded in lifes experience, things my parents taught me, and my own need to do what I think is right. Religion has little if any influence on my personal choices.

LMAO! That's one of the funniest things you've ever posted! You have no idea how relevant it really was! Besides, it's nothing to be upset or even embarrassed about. It is, what it is. I wasn't insulting gworld, just pointing out facts.

    gworld knows ;)
Trust me, he's not ashamed, I guarantee you that!

Shouldn't we give him the same benefit democrats are always seeking for terrorists? Discover the facts? Innocent until proven guilty...of whatever "crime" he's committed?

If democrats went after terrorists like they go after Republicans, no one would doubt they could fight a war on terror.

Are you kidding? Now that everybody knows he is gay and drug addict, he has nothing to hide so he will probably visit the white house on daily basis to party. :D
