I recently started a general web directory. I've been getting nothing but negativity about it. You can't make money, everyone has one of those, what are you thinking? Any positive suggestions?
First things first.. isn;t this a wrong place to ask this question? To answer your questions, yes, you can make money our of a general directory, but only in the long haul. As in, you might have to wait for a year before you get your 1st nickel out of it.
Even though I started mine a week ago and plan to maximize its potential and start other niche directories as well. I have already made money from it. I plan to make it worth your time.

So far no, but I plan to keep it for a long time. Once I get into niche directories I'm sure I can bring targeted traffic to them and bank on some ads. Maybe I'm just way to positive about it.
