    I don't trust Alexa rankings, I have a site with a 95,000 US traffic rank, and a site with a 350,000 traffic rank, and the one with 350k gets a ton more traffic.

    I installed their toolbar, and one of my sites jumped over 500k in a week for global traffic, even though my traffic did not increase.

    Yes! alexa ranking matter. Alexa ranking is traffic ranking. Site have alexa rank 1 means that on other site have traffic like this. So, if you like to grow traffic of your website link your site on good traffic sites.
